FX IMPACT REVIEW & THOUGHTS

Thanks for the review, and I would agree with many of your ratings. Quality of the rifle seems excellent, but for some reason, whenever I take it out of the case, I'm afraid to "use" it. I'm a former Army 11B, so I'm a little harder on gear than most, I would say. I just purchased an Edgun R5M as I was looking for something a bit more robust. I don't think this rifle is frail, but I'm also trying not to handle it any harder than I have to. Do any of your guys bring yours into the field? I don't bring mine outside my backyard because it doesn't feel like the rifle could take a beating and feels more at home on a bench.

Me too!

mine is accurate enough, consistent enough and quiet enough but it not as good as my other guns, I am slowly going through the gun making little improvements but it is time consuming, as I only test one improvement at a time.

i am sure the gun has serious potential but I haven’t yet got the confidence in its durability or my ability to shoot it well. I don’t think I will every want to take it out in bad weather, there is too many parts to dry off, to many places for twigs to get stuck.

If you guys dont mind I'd like to add my take on the durability of the Impact. I have owned mine for 3 years without even needing a breach O ring. Before I purchased mine I was hesitant as I heard some say they had problems with theirs. After speaking with Daren at AOA who told me (most) problems were user error I bought mine and have been amazed every time i shoot it. As for durability mine has held up well. Other than Ed running his gun over with a SUV most of us that spend $2000.00 on a rifle are reasonably carful and dont abuse them.

I agree with Daren opinion, sometimes I heard people saying crap about the Impact ... last one I remember: Edosan, my impact is crap is not working. Ok I said send it to me, I fix it (c3 bumper was busted and made a basic maintenance) give it back shooting excellent, this guy called my again after a few hours saying that he was amazed! ... after 2 more hours another call... edosan, the impact do not work anymore...is crap ... bring it to me I said ... after like 30 seconds I remove the barrel only to found out like 8 pellets on it (it was jammed...even when he said he did not put more than 1 pellet) ... then after a few days, he send me a video with a slow leak ... blaming me ... I send him the o'ring (set) ... problem solved ... finally I charge it US$100 for all ... and he did not pay (that was like 6 months ago).... bottom line: some people just suck.

and now, is official, more power!

Just chiming in,

My impact seems like it has gained a little power as it breaks in, I may be tripping, idk.

I love it, man. Only truly consistent pcp I've owned besides my .35 Hercules, and more so. I can pick it up at any time and knock a bull out at 50 yards without fail.

I have mine tuned now where I have the right harmonics and 1/2" or so groups at 50 yards with 29.5 grain flat based Nielson slugs on max hammer, running about 930 fps. Of course that's the slug liner, but.... I can also turn the hammer wheel down to 3, and shoot 1/2" groups with JSB 27 kings at 920 fps, requiring only a few clicks down and a couple clicks right on my scope. I can turn it right back to max, and slugs are good again. I shot the kings on max, and they're exactly 1,000 fps with accuracy that isn't that bad; inside 3/4 inch at 50. This is all with the valve knob only showing a tad over 3 lines. My reg is on about 158-160, though.

I love the possibilities with this platform. My Sumatra and Hercules feel like butt crack after I've gotten used to this gun, ha ha! Its got my vote. Yes, it was a tad expensive, but when your barrel machine costs 10s of millions, hey.... Ya gotta recover somehow! :-/

Doubt it’ll be as good as the kits being produced now. They claim 60 shots with .30 caliber with a 480cc tank? At what power. Certainly not up to 100fpe.

I got about 70 shoots on silver surfer @ 900 fps @110bar with .30 and 44.7gn and 580cc bottle, so I have no reasons to doubt on that, SilverSurfer have a different setup but still ... for me 60 shots on .30 cal 44.7gn, BIG YES on a 480cc bottle

You will have with the FX kit a 120-130 fpe IMPACT, that is just great!

I posted and then deleted later that day a CAD drawing of this plenum design here on April-25-2019. It was first copied and produced by Michal Osyda in Poland and then by FX.

One other forum member claimed to have seen this design years ago but couldn't offer even the slightest proof. Other forum members do remember my original post. If FX had this design before Aril-25-2019 they would not have retooled for the insignificant 5cc increase of the MKII

I'm glad they produced the design but I'm disappointed that they didn't thank me for my contribution which was all I asked for.
