Nice place to shoot "Butch"....so I now have (2) for Hi rings...apparently the height above the barrel is a wash so far even at 30 yards if zeroed @ 50 yards. The projectile Must go up X to meet the cross hair and again continue going up to X before meeting the cross hair at X further distance. Keeping in mind I do not wist to "click" top turret???

I use the FX no limit rings and they are fairly high. I put lower ones on it once and it made me have to tilt my head to far to see through the scope. Everybody has a different physical shape though so hard to say if medium or high would werq best for you.

Bioman what rail do you have attached to the bottom of your gun.

I have the older gen2 K&L Easy access trigger guard with an arca rail adapter. There are newer and longer models available. The arca rail adapter is a t-rail accessory so it can be attached to many of the extended trigger guards to help balance the weight of the gun better , closer to the center of gravity, when it's on a tripod.

Hi Saltlake58,

Hmmmmmmmm? 1/2" in scope height being negligible....... you are the fourth person suggesting Hi rings and in your case you even went 1/2" higher. Grateful for your insight.

Few years ago, Ted Bier went to RMAC with his scope elevated a couple inches above the bore line. Well, it looked like at least 6 inches. Not sure if that's a bit too high, but he shot well.

I also follow an Australian ELR shooter. His comments on scope height converted me to more comfort over lower scope height. Now, remember, this guy "Plinks" at 1200 yards, so take it all understanding it's a completely different end of the shooting sports: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXMLyoRhoOQ

Highly recommend following his channel if you are a technical type shooter. Excellent discussions that have much directly convertible into the airgun world.

Bioman, Thank you for taking the time to post those links.

Low, medium or high, will have nothing to do with the accuracy of your gun itself. The height of the rings is a matter of personal comfort for the shooter & how that shooter "melds" with their gun. Try some cheapies in all 3 heights & see which gives you the most natural, comfortable & stress free hold on the gun allowing the guns accuracy to come through. I think I have some medium & high picatinny rings (my guns use dovetail) that I'd be happy to let you try if you pay postage. PM me if interested. It also matters what position you'll be doing most of your shooting. Kind of like asking "what size shoes should I wear"?

" Low, medium or high, will have nothing to do with the accuracy of your gun itself "' It just be me however I respectfully disagree.... Height i.e. a shot high or Low will affect accurac as in a shot too high or to low. IMO! In an ideal world, a scope mounted right in the barrel will reduce on more variable....you would still have to compensate for gravity.

Gerry 52 is correct;

Accuracy in a gun is a measured distance between shots so it has nothing to do with how high or low your scope is.

Most will shoot a more comfortable gun more accurately. Cranking yer neck and holding your head sideways does not usually make one a more accurate shooter. I can often as not shoot .5 inch to 1.0 inch groups at 100 yards with my .25 Impact. With the higher more comfortable to shoot mounts on my gun. Once I know the trajectory of the projectile, I am shooting, I can shoot from 10 out to 200+ yards and hit my target most of the time. How high or low my scope mounts are has little to do with this so long as they are not so high or so low that I am not comfortable with my hold on the gun.

As far as reducing one more variable goes that is what range cards and rangefinders are for and you need them no matter where you mount your scope.

*~*~ Precisely the applicable @ issue... " Once I know the trajectory of the projectile "............ If in a quick shooting hunting application when Only using a Cross Hair & no Mill dot prior height adj/ traj & with out a range finder...the distance the projectile must travel up to meet the cross hair.is X because you are already approx 3 to 4 inches above the barrel. that projectile shall continue to travel upward at X distance prior to gravity and returning the traj of projectile to once again cross the cross hair at X distance as you Already were 4 inches above the barrel

You are saying " ONCE I KNOW " the trajectory

I had a set of TPS TSR low rings (.925) laying around. I gave those a shot before trying anything else. They are the perfect height for me. I was hoping to forgo a cheek riser as I wanted to keep my scope as low as possible. The magnifier ring just barely clears the rear of the picatinny rail. I think most people would want slightly higher rings than what I've chosen.
