FX FX Impact vs DRS vs King Question

Hi,

I've been shooting centerfire the last 3 years, so I haven't been keeping up with Airgun developments, but recently my last two PCPs (RAW HM1000 and a FX Crown Continuum) and a bunch of my powder burners were liberated from my storage unit. I was storing them while our house was being remodeled and I thought they would be safer in storage than in my house with all of the construction crews coming and going, but that proved to be incorrect. At least it is all insured.

I still have all of my filling equipment and a ton of 25 Cal ammo, so I will probably buy a least one new PCP. It will be used primarily for practice and pest control. The FX DRS Pro/MDT is interesting because I run a MDT ACC Elite Chassis on my primary PB competition rifle, but it's expensive and has a very limited shot count. I'm also considering the FX King (probably would buy a synthetic and swap out the stock for a Saber Tac Chassis) and maybe an Impact. I owned one of the early Impacts which I really liked, but I ultimately sold it because I spent more time tinkering with it than shooting it.

I'm assuming the newer Impacts are probably a much more stable platform than when I previously had one, but I'd love to hear from some folks that are currently running Impact M3s or M4s. I know they shoot great, but I want to be able to take an air rifle out of the safe and know I can pop a pest with it even if I haven't touched the rifle in months. That wouldn't have been the case with my first Impact. That was what I loved about the Crown. It could sit for months and would never lose pressure and would shoot just like it did when I put it in the safe.

If you have personal experience with any of these rifles, I'd greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts. I'm probably leaning towards the Impact right now primarily for it's versatility and accuracy if it's not going to be a maintenance headache.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

If you want to take a rifle to take down a pest afther been sitting for few days, I wouldnt get the Impact. They suffer from cold first shots. Here you have 22 pages if you are interested in it.

It can be solved by having an afthermarket part, but thats up to you.

About the King I can't say anything, I havent owned one. I'm looking aswell at the King for the moment.

Thanks for the reply. That is one of things I'm hoping FX has fixed in the new models. I wouldn't buy an older one. I would likely just order a new M4.
M4 suffers from it aswell, sadly.

I have an M4 and have not experienced this. I have, however, experienced it with my DRS. I believe it has to do with the AMP regulator and they don't seem to be very consistent from one to the next. A simple swap-out to a Huma-Air regulator should remedy that problem. But, you don't even know you have the problem until you lay out the big bucks and have it in your hands! For me, the Impact M4 would be my choice between the DRS and M4. A lot of that has to do with the ease of changing calibers, something that is much more involved with the DRS and King. I don't own a King, so can't comment on those, but I do like the fact they came out with the synthetic version ay a more reasonable price!

The slow shot(s) in the Impact are due the valve stiction. IMO a gun that sells for 2K should not have this problem.

I own a DRS aswell, there I was able to tune it out.

The King in Synthetic version has my attention aswell. Not sure about 500 or 600mm for light slugs.

1- DRS Pro (comes w/slug liner, slug power kit and match grade trigger)

2- King Synthetic 600(comes w/slug liner)

3- M4 or M3

I have a DRS Pro 25 700 it is extremely accurate ! Solid design !

I almost bought a King 25 600 before the the DRS was released.
Because it is equipped to shoot slugs out of the box.

I have an M3 it is a powerful accurate rifle !
I just don't find it a solid design as it is a pile of small parts put together to make a rifle.

The king has my attention aswel, but in 600mm with a moderator I think its going to be too long.

Sadly the 500mm is not designed for slugs

Thx for the reply! How many good shots are you getting out of the DRS per fill?

First, I don’t own a DRS or Panthera/Dynamic/King (all the same with different tank/stock setups). I have owned several Impacts and a Crown from the FX line in addition to many other rifles from other manufacturers. Of my Impacts, I only loved 1 out of the 4 I had. The Crown was amazing and I sometimes regret selling it.

I have been in the same boat you are in trying to decide between the DRS and the Dynamic block models. Because of the one plenum/tank setups, I believe they have really solved some of the POI issues of old. I too want a slug shooter and these two are considered near the top for me.

I love the look/feel of the DRS is that chassis. That being said, it is very limited on air options and adjustability isn’t quite as easy on the fly if you take your rifle to a new place to shoot or need a small adjustment for weather.

The Dyamic block options have many more options for tanks to give you more air options if you need more than the 15 or so shots. If not, I don’t know that this matters. I do like that you have the normal FX hammer spring adjustments for very small tweaks when the situation requires it.

I really like the idea of the Dynamic block in the Delta Force chassis with the tube air tank hidden in the chassis. Look of DRS but the ease of adjustment of the Dynamic block.

I just contacted Delta Force, they said there are Dynamic/Panthera/King chassis inbound to Utah Airguns.
