FX Impact vs FX Maverick for a 200 yard Slug Gun

Greetings Gentlemen!

I am in the market for a 200 yard capable slug gun and have narrowed it down either a .22 cal Impact or Maverick. Besides accuracy, reliability is a top trait for my next purchase. I've owned bulldogs, armadas, condors, and mauraders but never an fx impact or maverick. Having searched through forum for info on both guns, ive read mixed reviews. Some people say they never have problems, others say they had issues tuning. Any info would be appreciated!

Have you considered this option? https://utahairguns.com/fx-dreamline-saber-tactical-chassis-airgun/ The Dreamline is a great rifle less complex some would say to a Mav or Impact. For long distance I think of long guns. In case you haven't seen it here is a nice showing the .30 DL going out to 225 yds on pdogs. I have a .25 DL and really like it but don't shoot slugs or really past 100 yds so sorry can't help you there.

At 200 yrds you really want speed for your slugs, in this regard impact takes the edge.

everyone I have spoken with who is into FX guns has mentioned that the Impact has more inherent power capability out of the box.

I am a fan of the DL. Was hoping for a more compact gun but it seems shoot long distance a longer barrel is needed.

The maverick is more special made for slugs because of the larger plenum it can more easily achieve higher velocities than the m3

More plenum, more power? Can we have more power with the maverick or impact

I would vote for the impact mainly because of the valve return valve. Slugs are very sensitive to muzzle turbulence and it’s easier with Impact to fine tune for slugs IMHO. But with a 700mm barrels it’s really not that bad.

Any date yet on the 800m barrels that they announced at the last show?? I can’t get the velocity 

(or accuracy) the S Africans get yet. 40 gr slugs at highest velocity

What velocity you looking for? To get to these numbers you need machining internals. Old screenshot but imagine 46 grain boat tails flying @ 960 fps after adjusting the VS.

FX Impact MK2 PP .25 with 700mm barrel.
