FX Impacts leakers?

I, too, have seen various postings on Forums about how the Impact is a "known leaker". My bad for believing all those without some critical thinking. I have always been intrigued by the Impact, but never pursued that due in large part to the leaking "reputation". I feel much more confident in giving it a closer look now, due in no small part to Jonathan's informative ( and refreshingly forthcoming ) post. So thanks for this timely topic.

Thanks Jonathan for the quick reply. You said everything I needed to hear in order to make up my mind to buy one. That's why I joined AGN, to get honest reply's from FX owners. But the icing on the cake is when you get the "Big Guy" posting an answer to my question.. Now that's service. Thank you Sir... No fear making my purchase now... Jonathan, after the three year warranty period if the rifle needs work does the factory do repair work and what's the cost per hour?

Sorry for the slow reply Fractured, out of warranty per hour is listed as $65, but usually ends up around $50 as we have a lot of set items (completely o-ring repair, etc)

Great to hear from FX. How many times have we had that occur. Rarely for sure. The point made about air guns and O rings is so true ( but not obvious to many apparently).
With springers what can you expect? Well... you can expect springs to fail can’t you? O rings will fail and ALL of these guns in time will need service. Many of us are comparing air guns to powder burners and that’s just not reality. Guys ask or comment about the electronics on the daystate rifles. Same deal buy the gun or guns you want to own and have realistic expectations. Archery? You’re going to break or loose arrows. That going to stop ya? FX makes great guns as do many of the others. Life is too short to be worried about the what if’s.
I am impressed with Jonathan’s comments. AND the fact that he took the time to comment. 20,000 impacts? I had no idea. I thought I was out closer to the edge. Apparently I have company.

You’ve got a LOT of company 😂. Including me. I love my Impact, I love the ability to change calibers between the two I have (.25 and .30), and love the “tunability”, plus the ability to turn the power up and down on the fly. Mine has been perfectly reliable, but I am also realistic and realize that (a) something will fail at some point - most likely an O-ring, (b) I am ADDICTED to messing around with it and I may mess it up one day 😎

So far I have been very impressed by FX-USA. I have had queries regarding some of my other rifles (Crown, Dreamline and Wildcat) and also purchased some small parts when I was rebuilding a Dreamline that I purchased used in the forums (changed from a tube gun in .25 to a tack driving .177 bottle gun). They were extremely responsive and helpful.

Regarding leaks, it depends on what you do with the gun also. If you have a traditional rifle with reg inside the tube, where you are dismantling the gun, several times to adjust the reg, the likely hood that a O-ring will fail is bigger, than if you do not take the gun apart. That applies to all guns. If you change gauge, regs, or wathever requiring degassing or dismantle, you will have a bigger chance of introducing a leak, way before the O-rings normally would wear out.

My FX Impact is my LEGO gun, I just cannot stand watching it sitting in the case.

I toke it apart million times I can close my eyes disassembling it in ten minutes all parts all over in the room and back in the game fully tuned in next 30-40.

Any possible leaks or out of tune I can firmly say >80 % (just to stay on the safe side) is user error in hands of a wannabe mechanic.

You not a mechanic ? You just don't buy allenkey's and it will serve your game for years to come.

I've got a leaker!

I have only had my Impact mk2 .22 cal for 2 weeks. Today I experienced a leak at the front of the power plenum. It has probably been leaking for a few days slowly. I have been filling it to 200 BAR with my scuba tank at home. Today I went to my friends place and he filled it to 250 BAR with his carbon fiber tank and it started leaking heavily immediately. So my friends I will be contacting Pyramid air and FX USA tomorrow. I am anxious to see how well they handle and respond to my problem. Rest assured, I will be reporting my experience to you on this website. I am an optimist, so I think they will handle it well, time will tell.

I just had to return my 2 week old FX impact to Pyramid air. After owning it for one week it started leaking at the front of the power plenum. The leak got worse within a couple of days. On a good note, I cannot say enough good things about Pyramid air. They offered a refund or exchange with no questions asked. They paid for return shipping. The excellent customer service by Pyramid air made a bad experience not nearly as bad.
