Fx King .22

Fx King .22
I am shooting already 2 months my new fx King and there is two things that l want to ask on the forum. First, why my gun always shoot very slow first shot after fill in air and also if l leave gun for 5-10 minutes without shooting and start to shoot again same happen, first shot is slow on chrony and than is OK came back to right speed.
Second l am shooting on my King H&N Precision slugs 33gr
with velocity average 960f/s
micro w: 3,3
macro w: 19
At 75m and 100m grouping is OK but is always two or three shots gone out off the group.
l already tested many different slugs and different weight but is always same.
So l don't know is it amp regulator or tuning of the gun.
Kind regards

FX King with 600mm barrel?
Plenum pressure set at?

As to first shot slow, I see a little of that occasionally but I have put it down to a bit of 'cold' welding of the slug lubricant when it is first shot and thereafter if it is left sitting. I don't know if that is the reason. Otherwise it could be the regulator or hammer sticking due to cold welding or lubricant being squeezed out when it is left sitting under pressure. After the first shot, yes it works perfectly. I would like to know as well. It isn't a lot of velocity change but it means that first shot is invariably a tiny bit low compared to the following shots. I was going to search through the Panthera postings as it should be seen there as well, but I have yet to do so.

I have seen a topic here where a user tuned his Panthera close to the plateau. You tune it the way adding more hammerspring doesnt do anything, and back it off where there is a slight removal of velocity. This seemed to work for this person.

This should work for the King aswell since it uses the same block

l never tried to put macro wheel on 4 and micro wheel on 4. lt means that micro wheel is on the maximum. ln Fx King/Panthera booklet they said to start on 13 on macro wheel. l tried but there is not enough velocity for
H&N Precision 33gr slugs.
Actually these slugs on my King like high velocity. l would like to go on 970 to 980f/s if is possible but maybe that would be too much stress for that gun. Please advise.

The amp regulator creeps! Meaning it doesn't hold your set pressure for a long period of time. That plateau method will help but it's just nature of the beast for FX regs. That's why they recommend a couple purge shots before you actually start shooting. I've watched a couple videos on Huma regs compared to Amp and the Huma doesn't generally need the purge and holds set point much better.
There's also a couple videos on YouTube that shows you how to polish and tune the Amp reg to get the best performance out of it.
