FX Magazines

I am considering a .22 caliber FX Royal 300 for my next PCP purchase but I don't have access to one to handle and try. Without touchy-feely, I hope that some of the FX owners can comment generally on the rifle and specifically on the magazine and its use.

I am used to the HW100 mag which is a solid hunk of metal with no moving parts, by comparison the FX mag looks both delicate and complicated and could be a source of problems. Is the FX mag reliable and robust?

How is the mag for loading - it appears to be a fussy operation. Again I am comparing to my 14-shot HW100 mag which can be loaded in 30-60 seconds.

My last question is about the high scope rings required to clear the mag. Is the stock cheek-piece suitable for the height?

I'd appreciate any comments on the FX Royal rifles. Thanks and Happy New Year!

I have fondled both the FX 300 and the FX400.
Not overly impressed with the fill probe or the feel of the FX300, plus it was not regulated.
IMHO for the slight cost difference I would get the FX400.

Magazines are a bit of a learning curve to load, especially if you have other manufactures Airguns.
Tend to forget to install first pellet backwards.

Every time my shooting buddy and I get together, he complains about the FX magazines (gotten to be a habit)

These are the plastic ones like my FX T12?

Worst part of the gun IMO.

I like my FX but the mag is pretty poor. I don't find it too bad loading it's just the fact it's plastic (which ultimately wears) and it slides in to a stop. I just think there's definately potential for misalignment in the future due to lack of precision from wear. This is going to manifest itself as a pellet catching the exit hole on the magazine when loading and causing a flyer.

The more magazine airguns I use, the more I dislike them. I shot 3 mag fed guns the other day in two hours on the range. Each one had issues of some sort. Even a very expensive Daystate which would not load the 7th pellet on every shot string. Rather annoying for the owner on the speed shooting coarse!

Once you spend time on the range trying to shoot very consistent groups, you soon get why HFT use single shot.

I do think mags like the FX wildcat or Kalibrgun cricket (where they don't have an exterior cover) must be the best type.
