Tuning FX Maverick in .30 regulator pressure

I have FX Maverick .30 , 700mm barrel, 700cc carbon fiber bottle, Hades 44.75

Note: Installed in my Maverick are Dual transfer port, 14 gram hammer, Hammer tuning spring, High flow pellet probe, 2 (3rd generation) Tuning regulators for front and back.

Over kill but It is there when I want to upgrade to slugs.

What would be the ideal regulator pressure for 1st and 2nd regulators?

For accuracy and shot count. Maximum range for me will be 75 to 100 meters.

Whoa, Slow down Cowboy. "over kill" is an understatement. My .30 Maverick has none of what you mention and is very accurate with pellets or slugs, depending on my tune, well beyond 75-100 meters. We need data to compare where your fine FX was, to where it is now, with all your fancy "upgrades", that seem to be fairly esoteric and unknown to me. Give us a realistic synopsis of what you expect of your Maverick and you will receive legit ideas on "how to tune", not just "magic numbers"

Shoot straights and have fun,

Patrick

With all these upgrades, it would help to know the following:

  • What speed your doing at the muzzle with Hades?
  • What groups do you get with the Hades?
  • What weight slugs do you plan to shoot?

As far as improving accuracy, I recommend adding the carbon fiber liner stiffener, if for no other reason than it should improve variance, but it will change your harmonics and you may end up worse than you are right now until you retune. Accuracy and shot count kinda go hand in hand, as when you have the optimum dwell for the valve to be open you will use the exact amount of air you need to get the projectile to the end of the barrel. Any more air will blast past the projectile and affect accuracy, and this wasted air that is not needed will in turn reduce your shot count.

I have a Maverick VP .30cal with the 14 gram hammer and Ronin suppressor, and my regulators are set to 155/125. I get 930fps with JSB Exacts, Hades and 925fps with FX Hybrids. I get 880fps with NSA 54.5gr slugs. This gives me a shot count of 32-33 or close to three mags on reg. I need some range time to see how 100 yard accuracy is, but 30 yard groups are 1/4" with JSB Exacts, and a 1/2" with FX Hybrids.

I also did some testing with the BC of the Hades compared to the Exacts and Hybrids, and I have taken the Hades out of my rotation for anything over 50 yards. I just loose too much energy. With my current tune, I get 30fpe on target at 100 yards with Hades, while I get 64fpe at 100 yards with FX Hybrids.

@2L8 said it best, as there is no magic numbers that will get you what you are looking for. Any numbers you get from anyone will be ballpark numbers, and you will have to tweak from there.

That shot count seems low. I have the same setting except a 11g weight and a 580cc bottle and am getting 65 shots at 84 fpe

How long is your barrel? You need more energy to get 85fpe from a 600mm barrel than a 700mm barrel, and that's why you probably get those numbers with the 11gr hammer weight, as you can afford to keep your valve open for a shorter amount of time.

I have the 600mm barrel with no mods just upgraded gauges and 580cc bottle hammer spring on 6

Regs are at 155/122
I see.

Well, it's possible that my gun is shooting a little hot. I also wanted to shoot the 54.5gr NSA Slugs, so it's possible it's not as efficiently tuned as it could be.
