Tuning FX Maverick phase one tune

I purchased the Maverick sniper about two moths ago and this is my first attempt at tuning a PCP rifle. My goal was to be able to shoot FX 18.1 grain pellets in my 30 yard back yard range along with the FX 25.4 pellets at 50 yards at a local club range and the 20.2 grain NSA slugs at 100 yards. A challenge was given to me by a friend that owns an Impact to shoot five consecutive five shot groups at 50 yards that could be completely covered by a dime along with two five shot groups at 100 yards that were at least one MOA ..He can do it so I think he wants to rub my nose in my failed attempt.

With the regulator set at 100 bar and the hammer spring setting on number one I was able to tune the 18.1's to perform very well at 30 yards (1/16th to 1/8th C to C groups). I found that the 25.4 grain pellets had to be on a setting of 5 to get the dime sized groups at 50 yards ( C to C groups of .285, .324, .283 .421 and .319) . The slugs almost made the one MOA group at 100 yards (1.301 and 1.477 inches), with the switching wind causing the horizontal spread.

The HS setting over 5 gave no increase in speed so I guess I'm at the plateau. I don't want to loose the 18.1 grain pellet performance at 30 yards so I will continue in the future with a phase two tune for possibly 34 grain slugs.

I cannot find any directions for posting photos as the site link doesn't seem to be working.

If there is a way to shoot 18.1 pellets at 900 FPS on HS 1and 34 grain slugs at 970 FPS on HS setting 7 I have failed to figure that out. If you have insight as to how that works I would appreciate the advice.

If you are not seeing any velocity change on your top settings 5 and up you might need to increase your hammer spring with an Allen key. A wise man once told me here I'm the form that when you have it adjusted just right every click down on your power wheel should make a 5 to 10 pelocity feet per second drop. I was new to FX guns and he gave me a really good quick tutorial on how to tune see if I can find it and send it to you.

I don't know if that's going to work but the wise man I spoke of is Joekool.

that is a screenshot of the actual thread im talking about there's tons and tons of great information in there from Joe. On page three you can see where I asked him about tuning and he gave me a real short but concise tutorial on how to tune a wildcat Mark 3 which is as you know very similar to the Maverick see if that doesn't help you. The tune on my sniper as I received it from SPAW is 18gr pellets at 920fps on hamner spring 1 and 22gr FX Hybred slugs at 942fps on hammer spring 7. I have not shot the 18gr pellets for groups yet but did shoot the Hybred slugs at 50yds with a 5 shot group of .423” and I shot the JSB redesigneds into a group of .527, I have not run the JSB pellets over the chronograph yet my FX pocket chronograph gets here tomorrow. I think you will have trouble shooting the slugs as fast as you want and the pellets at 900fps. My regulator is Set at about 110 bar.
