FX Fx Panthera Hunter Compact .22 at 100yards?

Hello guys!

Today I set my FX Maverick Sniper .22 to shoot JSB 18grains at 890. There were no wind and I could get inch groups at a 100 meters, and I could shoot coke cans at a 160 meters.
I planning to buy a compact rifle to shoot these pellets and the HN baracudas at 100 yards or even more.

I'm looking at the Panthera Compact in .22, FX's page says that it can shoot 21 grains at 930fps so it has the power for that.
I wonder if the barrel lenght (300mm) would affect accuracy, if I know right it only affects the velocity.

I appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks!

Barrel length doesn't effect the barrel accuracy it's an old wise tail
Thanks for your reply! I think I'm going to get one.
(This picture just come in my mind :D if this could shoot well I hope there will be no problem with the panthera.)

Indeed and no video up on 100 yards even if it have been quite a while, you could maybe try to hit up Ted somewhere and ask how 100 yards shooting went down.
He seem to be on that instagram thing too, but i can not do there as i only do Youtube for social media.

My 530 mm Vulcan 3 can sort of do the same as my 700 mm Maverick can do, though not quite as good, at least not with the settings i have tried so far ( the Vulcan 3 not really being a tweaker rifle )
But 50 M i can not tell the 2 apart in performance.

Still shooting 13 gr slugs at 86 Meters / 92 yards, i would for sure not want to be behind a thin tree down there that let my nose poke out, CUZ it would soon be missing parts of it then, my shots with the V3 are generally all on a 2" shoot and see paper, just not grouping like the Maverick can do

Yes, that is a good idea but I don't want to bother him with my questions. There are many people on this site maybe someone has results at longer distances.

It was .22 before?
Nop..... It took some time to shoot as well as it shoots now.

Now is indeed accurate at long distance.

I am shooting at 88 yards and bullseye are easy to get.... After the third shot of period of inactivity...first shot hits an inch low, second half inch low third a bit... But after that, super accurate.

Shorter barrel does affect accuracy, even with the same twist rate barrel. With lots of indoor testing a longer barrel is more accurate 700mm and 800mm . But under 100y to me a short barrel is accurate enough.

There is a big difference in accuracy betwen a 300mm and a 700mm barrel? If the small barrel can shoot moa at a 100hundred I'm okay with it.

Any pcp will have a tough time consistently keeping moa at 100yds. I think a 300mm barrel will make it even tougher. You will really have to push a lot of air with a perfect tune to prevent disrupting the pellet/slug as it leaves the muzzle. If it were me I would consider something a little longer, 500mm at least. I have a 500mm Impact M3 in 22Cal that does well with light slugs in the standard STX liner. I havent printed groups on paper at 100yds but I think its probably in the neighborhood of 1.5moa. Its running lots of upgrades and 125Bar for about 35fpe. To get the same speeds in a 300mm barrel would likely be 160Bar or more. Now the Panthera wont need as much reg pressure but you get the idea.

It can certainly be done, but usually takes a lot of building/testing/time to get there. A couple groups here and there are one thing, but moa all the time every time is rare. I would look at the Panthera or DRS 700mm if it were me and my money. Still get the stiffer barrel assembly and plenty of power, but much easier shot cycle to go those further distances. And if you really just want a compact setup, trade somebody here barrels for your Maverick. They make awesome little walk around setups with a 500mm barrel. I have one in 177 with the 580cc bottle and 500mm barrel and its tiny.

Tell me, so who has learned how to shoot a slug at 104 yards from .22?
i have two pigeon kills with my notos at 106 yards. i can’t say i learned but i was aiming true and the stars aligned.

you’ll find that the more you shoot your guns, the more you’ll understand their behavior and little nuances.
