FX producing "Ratsniper" style slugs

I spoke to Jon at FX-USA prior to the Hybrid-Slug debut. He told me :

  • This project does involve Michael Hossack of Rat Sniper Slugs. But these are made using high speed machines that involve a well known firearm bullet manufacturer, RMR Bullets
  • The Optimum speed to shoot the Hybrids is between 920-940. But results are still very good at lower speeds as well
  • These Hybrid Slugs shoot best out of standard STX pellet liners. Shooters do NOT need to buy a STX Slug liner. Only use standard STX pellet liners for the .22 caliber Hybrid Slugs that are being released
  • We have found these Hybrids do shoot well out of other manufacturers rifles as well. Results may vary and none are as good as out of the FX barrels.

What bothers me is why isn't this info in the press release? Especially the part about Rat Sniper slugs pretty much running the whole thing at RMR. I feel like that's important info that they didn't include.

Lighten up everyone! If you don't like Rat Sniper or FX then don't comment. Rat Sniper may not have the best reputation, but at one point we all struggled to get our feet off the ground. FX obviously saw great potential in his design and decided to take it to the next level with RMR's high speed machines.

I thought the clay showed some pretty neat results. ie: how the slug expands best and penetrates less at high velocity.

Good on FX for recognizing a forward thinking design and partnering with the inventor instead of stealing it from him.

MOD EDIT: removed instigating comments

People people people ..... what a 3 ring circus! It is only an announcement of a new innovative product. Rejoice and purchase or despair and shoot something else.

Why do you all seem to think this is politics or religion or think you have the right to meddle in or speculate on the internal operations of any company that you are not a shareholder in.

The only comments that should be happening in this thread SHOULD be coming from those who have purchased the product and tested it.

Then and only then are you qualified with an informed opinion based on data. Speculation usually comes from much lower in the body than between the ears and it usually has a somewhat bad odor and or taste as well! ;)

All opinions not backed by fact SMELL bad! :p

And now we have the thought police adding more negative. The negatives come in to add their negative then complain about it and call others negative.

I love the product and packaging... I just hope the price comes down.

These look great. Trying to get a traditional slug to work can take a lot of time and experimenting. These seem to be just what they are being advertised as. A Hybrid. They will be an attractive hunting or longer range alternative for those that don’t have or want either higher power or special barrels.
You can use these in your gun as it is. No modifications. Maintain a high shot count.

You can still go down the path of traditional slugs. It is possible to get a higher bc with a heavier slug and still have great accuracy but that is different to what fx/ratsnipper has come up with here. This is a pellet alternative for a lot of of shooter with there current set up.
It is a true hybrid lying in between a pellet and traditional slug. It’s unique and will find a place of its own and I’m sure be very popular.

We can keep it clean Michael and still inform others of Mr. Hoosack's reputation. It's not slander if true correct?

If I may quote someone from above:

"Rat Sniper may not have the best reputation, but at one point we all struggled to get our feet off the ground. FX obviously saw great potential in his design and decided to take it to the next level with RMR's high speed machines.

The relationship between RS & FX hasnt been layed out for public knowledge. Based on this announcement the Hybrid slugs are being produced & distributed by FX, not RS.

I'd appreciate if everyone's comments focused on the newly released product, as opposed to the reputation of the original "designer".

I'll say this and if you feel the need to remove it so be it. As adults we recognize eachothers achievements and failures. If the failures stack up against the achievements we receice, a bad repufation in that area of failures will always be recognized and vocalized. I have fisrt hand experience with Mr. Hoosack. He was less than congenial. The designer does matter as his repution will follow his design.

As far as this says FX really isn't producing them and that Michael is. He's using FX for the distribution side of things. So whose telling the truth? I have no issue with RS slugs and think this slug is a cool design and looks like it performs very well. But the fact that in the FX press release there was zero mention of RS and the fact that he designed them and purchased the machines for making them and everything really makes me question FX. Credit should be given where it's due. Going off FX press release it seems like this was all done by FX when really sounds like all they have in this is a name...

I learned a long time ago that trying to run a small business in my spare time was darned near impossible. I'm sure I had upset customers along the way. It's incredibly difficult to hold down a normal job to pay the bills, and do marketing, manufacturing, order fulfillment, bookkeeping, customer service, and the rest. Something always slips.

So for the little guy to team up with FX and reap some benefits from patents and things he's worked hard for, I applaud the success. I was never quite so lucky.

I also applaud FX for their willingness to work with the little guy like RatSniper and Saber Tactical. Many companies would just steal the design and call it their own. FX is working to support the people in the business. Working with Matt Dubber on the Slug Liner designs is another leap of faith! Even though this design may render the slug liners unneeded, without FX's initial support, slugs would still be only reasonably accurate in their guns. Slugs bring a completely new dimension to shooting airguns!

I don't know what FX will pull out of the hat next, but I'm sure looking forward to it!
