They got blue laminate stocks? Now that's way too cool. I wonder why in the above pics the grey laminate one is WAY bigger than the forest camo one...Different length barrels and shrouds as well???

FX reveals the "Crown" and the Smooth Twist "X" barrel system!

Just got back from IWA, it has been quite a long drive home....
The big magazine is placed under an angle, and it doesn't seem to protrude any higher than a Royale with inserted magazine.
Probes can be swapped very fast by loosening a special allen bolt as can be seen in my pictures.
Cocking is just like the Royale series, maybe even easier due to the oversized cocking lever.
The new trigger feels fantastic. Barrel liners could be made in different twist rates, they even had a 1 in 8" twist barrel at the booth. Really looking forward to this one, it's one innovative rifle for sure.

Some time ago, I put my name on the list for a FX Impact and in the interim read all the reports of problems which became too many to ignore. I also considered the high price of switching calibers in that gun so I canceled and ordered a 22 Royale which is an outstanding platform. Now that that the Crown has come out it has just about everything I was interested in about the Impact but with improvements and a much more realistic price point in switching calibers. I doubt I'll buy multiple barrels to coincide with a given pellet though. That's a cool feature but far less important to me than switching calibers. I called up AoA and put a deposit down and was told I was 2nd or 3rd on the list. I also found out that the first ones they receive will have the walnut stock. Right now, there's not a lot of concrete info just yet in terms of configurations that they'll be receiving. At least as of several days ago.
if this gun pans out, I may sell the 400 even though IMO, FX pretty much got everything right about this gun. I'll definitely keep it long enough while I ensure the Crown performs as designed.

I'm slightly confused with the new model which now has full rifling instead of the Smooth Twist configuration. Does this signify that FX will now be moving back to traditional rifling? Even with the ability to select inner barrels with differing twist rates, won't the majority of people still be sticking with quality JSB pellet variants? I'm sure it's not just the pellet head & skirt dimensions that will come into play when forcing the pellets to rotate at a specific rate that contribute to accuracy, its also how consistently dense the pellet head/body is to ensure consistent flight etc. People will still check different pellets to see which one is best for that rifle/barrel/power configuration and so I don't really see what this solves. I really rate FX guns, but to me I wonder if it a case of "The Emperor's New Clothes"

I am totally thrilled! Fred has dropped another bomb on us! More than just buying a rifle we now have the privilege of purchasing a shooting system. This is going to send shock waves throughout the industry and leave us all Reeling for some time to come. I am definitely going to own one of these but I am going to wait to purchase until they become available with a 300cc air tube instead of that ungainly looking air bottle. And boy oh boy oh boy does that blue laminate look good or what! This gun is going to be especially nice for guys like me who love to Tinker and experiment with their guns to extract the last drop of accuracy and efficiency.
Fred Axelson is the man! He is an artist and a visionary and one hell of an act to follow. I believe FX is the standard by which all other air guns must be measured. He always leaves me wondering just what else he has up his sleeve and what rabbit he's going to pull out of his hat next. Wouldn't surprise me if he came up with a semi-automatic Wildcat or Impact any day now...

I believe this new "Smooth Twist X" process is the same process at the old smooth twist method but it's done for the whole barrel length.

Hi, I really want to get my head around this, but "Smooth Twixt" was a smooth bore with the "Twist" beingset at the last 10cm of the barrel. (For me, the accuracy required using JSB variant pellets at high speed to force the twist). How therefore can "Smooth Twist X" be the same as the old smooth twist but done for the whole barrel length? Surely that then just becomes "Twist X"? (Or another flavour of Lothar/Walther/FX full barrel rifling).

The barrel starts as a mirror "smooth" blank and the inside is never touched by tooling.. the entire barrel length is pressed from the outside with the rifling to form the Smooth twist" internally. This new system should prove a better consistent spin rate on pellets and prevent the "run up and strip" effect on the previous design. I am very interested to see if this raises the pellets B.C over the older smooth bore barrels that have shown lower B.Cs over traditional hammer forged and button rifled barrels in my testing.

So all of the conjecture is interesting to contemplate, but the most interesting thing will be to see pellet after pellet disappear down the same hole at 100 yards...now that's the magic trick I want to witness!

This is some great innovation in our hobby, I am on edge to think about the tuning we can do to push out our favorite pellets! In this forum we can compare our tests and push out the range accuracy to new limits. The gun is also a bute.

My only word-of-mouth report so far was of a 10 shot half inch group at 100 metres with a test rifle.
Did you all notice in the video that not only has it got externally adjustable hammer spring and transfer port for tuning but also external adjustment for the regulator between the two pressure gauges. The rear pressure gauge shows the regulator pressure for monitoring adjustment. Now that is something.
Also Fredrik indicated that twist rates of faster ths 1:16" will be made. Read possible stabilizing of longer and heavier pellets and possibly bullets too.
The stock seems to have vertical comb adjustment and the butt plate also. Along with the mag not being higher than previous models, these adjustments should make for comfortable shooting. ...
I have watched a lot of "developments" come and go over the last 20 years in PCPS, and by-passed most. This one I will give the best opportunity to move things forward. My Excalibre is 17 yr old FX technology. Its 100 yard accuracy has been equalled by the BSAs I have, but nothing else has been shown to be better.
I will take a punt on the Crown if I can get one into Australia, minus the sound moderation, and work it over for the rest of my shooting days. ... Yrrah.

I believe that I heard Fred say to Ed in his V-Log that they could not only easily control the twist rates but also the choke of the barrel. I'm sure the people who fire or design bullets for airguns will be ecstatic.
This will really accelerate the advancement in our sport and new heights will be achieved sooner rather than later because this barrel technology gives the average consumer affordable access to testing and experimentation capabilities that were previously only available to people with very deep pockets.
What more can you ask for when sweeter honey can be harvested and the bees do not even sting!!

Some people are being trolls and complaining without ever touching the rifle. They just fail to realize what potential this technology holds. Even if Fx Crown did not offer all the easy adjustments the new Smooth twist X Barrel alone makes it a game-changer.

Guess I'm going to be one of the people to try one of the first shipment. Put a deposit down on one the other day. Personally I can't see waiting and missing out on all the first fun. Bought 2 wildcats out of the vary first batch and my impact was close to the first batch. So far FX has been golden for me. I've had no problems.
