FX Royale 400 in .22 pellet inconsistency problems???? Updated with pics.

"strikefast"Good, try getting a good solid bag like a Caldwell Tack Driver bag. Amazon sells them filled. Mine is very full and offers a serious rest.

Don't rest it on the bottle but on the forend. Then get a sand bag for the rear. Using, that solid rest, you may see a difference. Also ck your scope with the box drill. Get the scope crosshairs on a dot and shoot three pellets. Then click up 10 clicks and shoot at the same dot as you did for the first 3 pellets. Fire 3 pellets and then click left 10 clicks. Shoot again keeping centered on the original dot each time. Then 10 clicks down. Repeat the shots. Then click right 10 clicks and fire again. Your pellets hole groups should make a box on the paper and hopefully the POI after all the clicking should be close to the original.
Putting the gun in a gun vise is better if you have one. Just take you time and aim carefully and your result should be good. If your scope is the issue. it will show up with the pois of the box way off...Good luck and post your results when you get them......

Can I use this method at 10 yards and get any usable results?

I don't believe it will make that much of a difference. 20 yds would be better as it gives the pellets more room to react from whatever the issue is.

But still, something is better then nothing....you could switch it to low power to slow the pellet speed and artificially lengthen the distance. Have you checked the LDC to see if it is loose? Try wiggling it to make sure it is tight. I don't think it is clipping pellets like I said earlier. But it might shift and change the pressure exhaust from the pellet leaving the end.

"AZBOBCAT"Are you using the magazine when loading? How does the loading cycle feel? It should be like butter smooth no notchy or rough areas while you cycle the action. I have found FX magazines with so much spring preload that they practically crush pellets while loading them. The only slight resistance you should feel is the pellet going past the breech oring.

AZBOBCAT could be onto something here. I shot 5 3 shot strings at my 10 yard indoor range. Here are the results. Note the inconsistencies using the magazine and without. JSB's 15.89's.

Good call, I figured you had a single shot tray. Shooting with a mag is Definitly less accurate then with single loading. Look at the Styers and other FT rifles on the he circuit.

My Styer LG110 FT model has the bolt pinned. It is a small pellet probe that seats the pellet the same distance in the breach ea time for consistency.

I have a suggestion of three things you may want to try...first, replace the breech o-ring. It can get worn from use and sometimes get a small tear that can cause accuracy to come and go. Second, try lubing your pellets very lightly with Napier pellet lube. Third, try shooting a heavier pellet like the Beeman Kodiak 21.14 grain pellets in either lead or copper coated. The Kodiaks cured a similar problem I had with a .22 pcp. Good luck.
