FX Royale 500 bottle removal question

"asif_maqsood"Hi, my Royale 500 is leaking air from the neck of the bottle (10 bar per 24 hrs). I can see very minor bubbles from one point.

Can you please guide me step by step on how to remove the barrel and then the bottle and finally on the size of the O ring that will require to be replaced.

Best Regards

Hi asif,

You can do it two ways. Either loosen the three grub screws on top of the breech block that are holding the barrel on and slide the barrel out completely. Do so slowly and carefully so as to not damage the o-rings on the barrel. Then slowly unscrew the bottle just a little bit at a time. One of two things will happen. Either air will keep leaking out because your check valve in the bottle is stuck, or you'll hear air leak out and then stop because the check valve in the bottle has closed and you can now unscrew it fully. If the check valve is stuck, let the air leak out of the gun slowly. Do not continue to remove the bottle with air leaking. The bottle will blow off the gun and you will damage the seals in the check valve.

Here is a link to the schematic for the bottle, it will have the oring size and parts list to diagnose the problem.

Here is the schematic for the whole gun, just in case.

The other way to get the bottle off would be to heat the base of the moderator/shroud where it screws onto the cone shaped base with a propane torch. This sounds scary but is actually quite benign and did no harm to the finish when I did it to mine. You are only loosening the lock tite that is holding the shroud onto the cone shaped base. Keep applying some pressure to the shroud as though you are trying to unscrew it, counter clockwise. When the lock tite breaks from the heat you will be able to fully unscrew the shroud. There is a small grub screw on the bottom side of the cone shaped base that is holding it to the barrel. You can loosen the grub screw with an allen key and slide it forward about a half inch, retighten the screw and then reinstall the shroud. It will then be far enough ahead on the barrel so that you have room to remove the bottle any time you want without removing the barrel.

Hope this helps!
