Fx Royale 500 - Feedback Prior to Purchase

Trying to get my hands on one of these... will probably take the plunge in the next couple of days.

My questions to my fellow Fx Owners. I own a Daystate AirWolf MCT - its super quiet and deadly accurate. Is this Royale 500 "super" accurate and really quiet. For comparison, I own the Fx Boss ... and its too loud to shoot in my backyard... so I want more power than the .22 but can't go to the .30 boss... is this the right gun for me. 

I want insane accuracy and I want it to be super quiet.... 

Love any comments or suggestions. 
 
Maybe also consider a RAW HM1000X? Not saying its "better" but they have some pretty awesome moderators installed. AOA will also install a moderator of your choosing on a royale 500 or boss. I would call them both....AOA and RAW and go from there. I have an electronic daystate as well with a huggett......it has definitely spoiled me in the noise department too.

SBKnives, I also own a Daystate MCT & now 2 FX 500s. The Daystate might be a bit quieter but you would have to professionally test it to be sure. But here is the point, the 500 is almost bullet-proof. I regularly shoot & hit pigeons over 80 yds. The Daystate is much heavier and bulkier. I'm in the process of selling my Daystate. I do NOT like the little bolt at the rear. I do love the simple loading Daystate mags but again the FX holds more. I've shot more than 20K rounds thru it & haven't cleaned inside barrel. You will love the FX500.

Here's a video I made of me shooting a 33 shot group at 50 yards. 33 shots was 3 full magazines in a row. I don't have any other guns that can do this and this is my second FX Royale 500 that would shoot this well. You'll be able to hear in the video how quiet the gun is. Fair warning, my video editing skills are just down right embarrassing haha.

Ernest, that thing is a work of art! I love how you have the ability to machine the barrels and choose the most accurate one. That would be something I can only dream of doing. That laminate stock is gorgeous also. I'm thinking of upgrading to the carbon fiber tank. Any tips on how to get one in the least expensive way possible? Are you going to be shooting in EB this year?

First and foremost - all of you guys rock!! This is awesome feedback and awesome footage. I am definitely calling in this order tomorrow for the weekend. 

@Longbrownbox... I am getting a regulated fx royale 500... that being said, should i try both pellets. I was kind of thinking that the 25 was the go to pellet and that the 34 would be quite a bit slower. What velocities are you getting out of both ... and do you know what the BCs are on those two pellets. Just wonderings... was almost going to plug them into my kestrel ... and i can true the ballistic curves when i get it...just wanted a reference point.

When you call to order, have them check the velocity. My 500 came shooting the 25 grains a bit slow at around 860. I had them bump it up to about 900 for the 25's and that put the heavies at about 780 IIRC. I've found that some tins of each pellet shoot better than others. For example, I can get a tin where I can put 33 shots under a dime with no sorting from the 25's and then another tin won't do so well. Same thing with the Heavies. One tin will stack pellets and another might have a flier or two here and there. The good news is that means the gun is more accurate than the pellets and you only have to try some different tins to get the good ones.

Ted does this also. He actually finds a super accurate tin of pellets, finds out what batch they were from and which die they were made in and orders a whole bunch of the exact same batch to keep on hand. Pretty smart really.

SBK, I would definitely try both pellets. The 25 grain BC is .0359. Strikey is also correct. You lose almost 100 FPS with the heavier pellet. Cliff also mentioned it's easy to adjust up your FPS but do it thru the chrono. You probably won't need more than a quarter turn. You can find the most FPS with the chrono but you still have to make sure the gun like it. Mine is set at 890. You may not achieve the best group at a higher FPS. Good luck & enjoy!

Great - thanks... laminate on its way!!! Should have by friday. 

@longbrownbox Dumb question - but are there some tutorials on how to adjust the FPS. I assume the easy external way is to adjust the power dial ... but i suspect there are some internal ways to crank it up. I havent really researched this but assume it is fairly simplistic. any suggestions are welcome.

SBK, dont know if there is a tutorial but wouldn't be surprised if someone posts a link. If you don't find one "shoot" me a pm and I'll ask my friend to help make one. I can't hardly post a pic by myself. The first time I put my stock back on after each adjustment. Stupid. Next time I just left the stock off and shot it thru the chrono each time I adjusted it. Much faster.

The FX moderator does not do a good job of silencing the report of the FX500. I would consider having AOA installing a Huggett although that will add to the length of an already long gun. The Huggettt on my Airwolf 25 makes it dead quiet - all one hears is the sound of the pellet hitting the target. In contrast the factory moderator on myFX400 only moderates but does not silence the rifles report.
