Fx Royale 500 - Feedback Prior to Purchase

"TonyT"The FX moderator does not do a good job of silencing the report of the FX500. I would consider having AOA installing a Huggett although that will add to the length of an already long gun. The Huggettt on my Airwolf 25 makes it dead quiet - all one hears is the sound of the pellet hitting the target. In contrast the factory moderator on myFX400 only moderates but does not silence the rifles report.
I had a different experience. The Wolverine B Hi-lite in .25 that I had with a Hugget was remarkably louder than my Royale 500 with the stock moderator. Would be interested to hear others opinions also.

Well ... brown box today showed up ... fx royale 500 laminate showed up... for those that told me it would be accurate... i would say this is understated. within the first 5 minutes - i was shooting nail heads at 50 yards... thing is ... shooting nails heads everytime at 50 yards with an unseasoned barrel in 3-5mph 9pm wind in the rain. This is stupid accurate... maybe i just got a good gun ... i dunno - needless to say i am happy and it is deadly silent. this is from a 6-9" harris and a rear shooting bag... not a vice.

Don't you just love those "long brown boxes"? Now you know where my user name came from. I saw some said it was loud but I didn't want to get in that argument. My Daystate MCT is a bit quieter, my Verminator with a full Huggett Shroud is a bit quieter (.22) BUT the 500 isn't loud! If you go to the Extreme Bench Rest in October you will meet Frederick Axelson. (FX Owner) He will tell you not to clean the barrel unless it stops hitting what you aim at. Even then check to make sure you haven't changed the power wheel or you changed magnification. I truly think it's bulletproof! I've had my first about 3 years. I've cleaned the outside but not the barrel. My friend Scott has a 500 with about 40,000 rounds thru it & just had his first problem. He took it apart to really clean it & found a damaged pin in the cocking mechanism. Still never cleaned the barrel. I can already tell you are loving it. Welcome to the dark side!

Awesome SBKnives, always great to see another vote of confidence from a first time Royale user as a testament to how incredibly accurate they are. Can't wait to see some pictures of groups and certainly some pictures of the gun in that beautiful laminate stock! Enjoy in good health! Now that you've received it and it's turned out to be a good experience I can say that I hope I helped influence your decision haha. Happy shooting, don't forget the pics!

Regards,
Cliff

"chasdicapua" Awesome gun. BTW, over 80 shots per fill (they all come regulated now) and the fill is 220 bar, not 230 or 250 on some other comparable .25 rifles. Nothing to not like about it, except perhaps the length. Hope it arrives soon. Enjoy the Royale 500!
You can fill to 250 bar with the regulator installed, just like the FX Boss and Bobcat MKII.
The breech is also used for unregulated Royales, hence the 220 bar marking to prevent valve lock.
I fill my Boss to 250 bar and the R400 regulated to 230 bar, the indicated maximum working pressure for the 500cc (250b) and 400cc (232b) bottles.

@Palmetto.PCP I got my from Jim at Precision Airguns and Supplies. http://www.precisionairgunsandsupplies.com

Jim is fantastic to work with - top notch. Second purchase from his shop and it was flawless and extremely quick. AOA has been great to work with but wanted to purchase from someone local.

Good Luck - I have put about 1000 JSB's down the tube in a week and its an absolute blast to shoot. Accuracy, noiselevels and expectations overexceeded.

That said, I would spend the $300 bucks and go laminate... it makes the entire gun. I wish I could find a laminate stock for my Boss. The wood is ok but nothing even close to the quality of the laminate. If you have any specific questions - let me know. I read every dumb thread and watches youtube video's tirelessly ... and finally just decided to buy one.
