FX Royale

How many people out there are still shooting FX Royals? 400 or 500? I don't read much on the forum about them with all the new stuff coming out. I have 2 FX500s and a 400 22 cal and love how accurate and simple they are. The 500s are not regulated so only one adjustment to make on the hammer spring. My 400 is regulated but it shoots so well I never touch any adjustments. I only have 25 yards to shoot at home. They are all 1 hole at that distance. I used to live in AZ and shot birds at dairies every day but living in WA State there isn't much to shoot especially in the winter. I do make 2 trips to AZ every year. I'm going again soon. Can't wait. Have fun, Scott

I have a Royale 400, and it is one of my favorite rifles, simple, dependable, accurate, never needs cleaning. The original FX reg was not good, but I replaced it with a Huma, haven't touched it since. I replaced the trigger with the Boss match trigger, which is an improvement, although the standard trigger is satisfactory. The match trigger operates with levers, rather than the spring-and-ball setup of the standard trigger, which I just found weird. That said, the standard trigger gave no problems. I tried a Crown, but found the barrel liner/sleeve/shroud assembly gave problems in maintaining consistent POI, and the externally adjustable reg is not something I need. It seems the new FX line is focused on tinkering. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's just not something I value in an air rifle. I want simple, dependable accuracy. As such, the Royale/Boss platform is the only FX rifle that I have any interest in owning.

I have a 400 22 cal, it does have some reg creep but has been a good gun.

Unfortunately I won a soft case at a raffle that has foam in it that attracts moisture. I found that out the hard way when I forgot that I left the gun in the case and took it out a month later, it was majorly rusted up 😡

I live in the arid southwest so I was caught off guard because this has never happened before with my other soft cases.

Poor gun needs a BIG going over inside and out!

Yep, got one. Might be listed on the classifieds soon (hint, hint). I just don’t shoot it as much as I thought I would. I always grabbed my Wildcat but sold that. Just bought a TAIPAN Vet that hasn’t delivered yet, I’ll compare and reassess my wants and see what needs to leave.

Having said that, I love the Royale. It’s a great rifle. Mine is box stock except I changed out the cocking lever for the shorter Impact lever and longer handle. Near even dialed the HST. no need to.

The ONLY 2 guns I have are the FX Royale 500 & Boss. They check all the boxes for me, dependability, accuracy, repeatability, fit & feel, virtually maintenance free. Even after a few years with both I'm STILL blown away by their performance! The most solid & simple platform FX has ever made. Never have let me down. Both are in original condition from when I bought them, no changes or mods other than installing the Impact type cocking handle. "Boringly" perfect (if you can call perfection boring!).

Have a Royale 400 .22 cal purchased from Ken ( SPAW) two years ago. Had a HUMA installed and this is my “Go To” Squirrel gun. Have a Leupold 6.5 X 20 40 MM EFR scope on top.

I cleaned barrel for the first time in over a year. First patch, only mildly dirty. 2nd patch 90% clean. 3rd dry patch almost pure white. This gun is dead on accurate from 20-40 yards with my 20 yard zero.

Shooting 18.1’s at 875 FPS.

Maintenance free is a great description. May be selling to fund a new Revere!

But, maybe not too!
