FX shroud length question

Would there be any negative effects if someone used a 500mm barrel in a 600mm shroud instead of buying the whole assembly?

Yes, you can use a shorter shroud on longer barrel, but not other way around... a hint, the shroud front plug screws on barrel front nut...

It screws onto the nut on an Impact, but not on the Crown MK2 if I remember correctly.

Its no problem -
I shot my Crown superlight 600 mm barrel kit with both 600 and 500 mm liners - Just secure that the liner is supported well near the muscle end.
The extra free space in front of the liner - reduces the noise a bit too.
