fx slug pin probe question

good morning all
I'm looking to see if anyone has owned the pin probe the fx makes in the power slug kit?
i would like just the probe if possible or if anyone knows who makes a probe similar that just the pin is adjustable
not the entire probe, i seen the one on Utah but it's useless as the whole probe moves not just the pin
thanks for any info.

You didn't say for which platform. The impact adjusts from the back.

I have on 2 separate impact and got it for 3 different calibers and it wasn't worth getting. The Huma probe works much better and is more consistent while giving extra flow of air.

I think he's already got it so the efficacy of it is irrelevant. Same with mine as you and I have discussed in a couple threads 10fps isn't worth the problems it gives.

the huma is not adjustable so you cannot adjust for longer slugs, meaning on the fx probe you can back just the pin out, not the entire probe
so therefore, i can put the slug where it belongs in the landing's vs pushing it in too far.

I have a .30 cal probe for an impact. From what I remember it isn’t adjustable no idea what kind it is as it came extra with a mk2 I used to own. I tried it with pellets and was a no go. You can have it if you want as I don’t have an impact nor do I shoot slugs. Just drop me a pm.
wow thanks for the offer, but i need the one you can adjust the needle itself i started shooting 36-38-40g slugs and there long
the pellet probe i had to adjust under the rail to put them back where they belong in the landings.
so i figured if i get the fx pin probe i can just adjust the needle only, to get the slug in its happy place
and adjusting back won't cause an issue with the magazine like the non-adjustable ones.
i have the kraford & lypt probe holder so no need to crank on the little set screw and bend the needle

You're still going to run into the problem of those slugs being pushed unevenly into the breach, and you're not going to be able to seat slugs into the rifling as you as limited to how much you can adjust the pin due to the interference of the magazine. Too long and you won't be able to cock it, too short and the slugs won't seat past the transfer port. Every owner of an impact that I know, including myself that has bought one has replaced it with the huma because of what I said in my prior comment and this one.

i will be just fine with the adjustable one thanks, i just got off the phone one of the guys is shooting the same but with an m4 30 cal 600mm he said it works great for what we're doing. i just figured I'd ask here before he got back from the range.

Understood, I hope it works out for ya!

As a pb guy I worried about the lands, then I realized it's more about not obstructing the transfer port first. Imho

everyone has their own way right or wrong, and from what I've done and seen and tested in liners slug shapes bearing surfaces
flat vs dished.
i agree 100% on not blocking the port but there is much more going on where the car gets parked in the garage

I have Huma pin prober on my Maverick, so to be able to flip single shot tray in i must pull a little back on cocking lever as the pin is protruding into the magazine slot when it is all the way back.

Mind you it do not feel like it is seating anything too deep, even the longest slugs and pellets seat just fine,,,,,, though i have not tried the 24 grain Zans in it.
But beasts for instance chamber effortless. can not tell if its stose or a shorter heavy i am chambering.

on the maverick that is where the adjustability of the fx probe comes in you would be able to adjust the pin back with a 2mm Allen wrench in the back of the probe, my huma air probes i had to file down the pin to Taylor different ammo just made sense to get this one vs 4-5 probes.

Yeah i also been looking at the dremel now and then, but now the Maverick are more or less retired and i will probably switch to the regular probe for a calmer regular lighter pellet shooting setup.

The plan was to use it with my NV scope smacking pests, but that is not going to happen with the 10 gr KO MK3 slugs CUZ they do not work well, have not yet tried Hades alternative or other " hunter " style pellets.

is that.177 my buddy has had good luck with the h&n and zan slugs in his mav little heavier though
but in reality, pellets have come along way inside 60 yds

Yes.177

With the 700 mm barrel, well the heavy barrel at least slugs worked damn fine ( 13 gr ) also in the STD liner, but unsure if i tried the 10 grainers in it, if i did probably regular 10 gr KO slugs and i can not recall result.
I do remember 10 gr Zan not working good for me.
But tore off the long barrels and DIY CF sleeve and went back to the original 600 mm with a new standard barrel CUZ not able to find any Heavy ones at the time.
The original 600 mm barrel, i would not even give that to the person i loathe the most, it did not work above SUB12 speed / power

Got maverick when it was brand new on market, and a little later the 700 mm barrels when they came out, and it have given me great joy shooting several 10.000 of slugs in the following years.
Im at a place where i might as well have a ammo subscription with Zan, just ordered 10 new boxes of 13 grain yesterday, i shoot 2-3-4 boxes in a day during summer, and often i shoot 2 consecutive days, and do that 2 times a week, so quite a lot of lead launched here.

Right now though i always grab my Epic Two, only think of the Maverick when i see it lying in its case on top of a big cardboard box in my living room, have lived here for like 14 years now and at least 1/2 of my stuff are not unpacked, haven’t even put up light here, i have screen light and a single floor lamp in a corner i use when i work on stuff on my living room table.
