Tuning FX Superior Heavy .25cal liner question

I shot 29 grain very accurately out of the heavy liner, hades also have been very accurate out to 80 yards. Haven’t tried 26.5 grain but don’t have much interest in trying them because of the low BC. Don’t plan on shoot pellets or lighter slugs out of my .25 barrel anymore though, my new go to is the 34.9 grain slugs with BC of 0.11. At the end of the day heavy is slug barrel that shoot pellet ok but all slugs well. Superior is pellet liner that shoot some lighter slugs ok.

Don’t plan on shooting pellets out of my impact anymore and anything lighter than 34.9 grain slugs I rather grab my .22 barrel with heavy liner or my 177 setups.

running a heavy liner 700 had it shooting 36.6 gr noe cast rf slugs out to 208 yards consistently. got a replacement mold and trying to get it dialed back in and I'm not too far off as of right now,

Is that mold one slug per pour?

I’ve never poured ammo….just wondering how time consuming it is?
how long does it take to make 100 slugs? If u had clean ready to melt lead?

The molds make either 2 or 4 per pour. It goes pretty quick maybe 15 seconds per cycle once everything is up to temp.

I wish they made 6 and 4 cavity, 2 is slower of course but it goes quick and it's actually fun. Put on some music and get in the rhythm.

Wear a good respirator and do it outside.

So I’m mildly interested in getting into this…where would I get information in what kind of tools are required? Would like go see photos of how ppl setup?

Seach YouTube, introduction to casting. Sorry about the hijack corvid-hunter.

Not to worry. Sometimes when the post wanders a little bit they bring up very interesting and informative information. I went the swaging route instead of casting, but it's still good to know about.

Interestingly I just got my Superior .25 Heavy today, from AGS.

I was shooting 34 grain JSB MK2 from my original STX-A, the tightest groups I could get about 1.5" @ 100 meters range, BR. But somehow looks like I got the latest a bad batch back in May (3 box of 5 tins=4500 pellets) or something because the .25 when I measure the skirts are 6.6 mm vs 6.4 a change from last year. Maybe these new pellets have a bigger friction insider barrel walls...

So I was tinkering about getting this Superior liner for some time, but I still have a huge load of pellets to blow them out first.

I was at the range today afternoon indexing the new Superior Heavy liner, with these same pellets the indexing radius (12-3-6-9 a clock) was visibly smaller about 10 inches (vs the 16" with STX-A), also seem to me I got tighter groups @ 100 but still not a MOA.

I got some 2K slugs from ZAN 35-37-41 grain but I don't want to touch these yet before I spend the pellets first. btw, the 41 grain slug length is for single load only won't fit the mags.

Reolf (sp) on you tube offers a option 3d printed lid for the high capacity mage to allow larger slug use. might work in your case...
