Tuning FX Superior Heavy .25cal liner question

I cannot recall correctly but somehow your name gets to a front, did you mounted the CF sleeve over the liner last time?

I am looking for some FX parts and last night I was browsing through the AGS menu's and saw that the FX barrel tuners arrived, also the FX CF sleeves. I don't want to buy it yet before I see some proven statistical data, lets call this that I am not an impulsive buyer ;). Here at my gunclub I am the only one with an airgun so I cannot get a visual or anything pros or cons from first hand.

The heavy liners won’t shoot pellets well because of too much spin. It’s designed for slugs only so I wouldn’t waste time shooting pellets out of heavy liner.

Try heavies mk2 you will be amazed, sub moa all day.

Thanks I might try that one day just because I have some left but I honestly have no desire to shoot pellets out of my Impact anymore. I've switch to slugs and haven't look back, way too much fun plinking well pass 100 yards in the wind even. The only problem is I don't get to go out and do that much especially lately.

To clarify my original statement: the heavy has too much spin for most pellets at "normal" 850-900+ FPS but will likely shoot them very well at much lower speed just like LW 10 meter barrels are 1:12 twist for 177.

I ordered a sleeve for my regular Superior Liner from 910 Airgun and that one I bonded to the liner. I have a sleeve for my Superior Heavy liner and a tuner from AGS on route which should be here (hopefully) by Friday. I indexed the Heavy liner a while back and did some preliminary velocity testing with 35gr swaged ammo (no o-rings installed) then removed the liner and went back to the regular one. Waiting. Patiently.

This was 30 yards with my initial test with the 35gr slugs. I'm using a cheap scale right now and that's what it says. I have a RCBS Chargemaster that I'm going to dig out one of these days and get the accurate measurement on what they actually are. Dimple point and hollow point options. Air dried silicone lube on the slugs

What fps are you guys shooting your slugs? My 600mm .25 STX Heavy Liner is on its way from Utah Airguns. I've got a few 36g flat bottomed slugs, some 35g Zan and some custom ones from some guy off Facebook. I've also got a few tins of Fx 34g pellets that I would like to test out as well and I'm assuming with the faster twist rate of the liner, I should be shooting these at 850fps or under?

I’ve only shot the jsb 34g

out of the 500mm slug a liner at 850 fps. One hole groups at 40y

out of the 700mm superior liner at 885fps one hole groups at 50y

i shoot straight out of the tin.

im just getting into slugs with my current built. Have the superior and superior heavy liners. Both cf wrapped.

I tested both the JSB KO 25cal MK1 and MK2

the MK2 outperformed the MK1 at slower speeds (960ish) they also loaded harder even though they spec out a smaller diameter .250” versus .251” on the MK1. They also dropped 20-30 fps in velocity on the same tune. Not sure what’s going on here??? Unless its that funky new design thing. Google them.

However once I got close to 995-1000fps, MK1 became the clear winner.

I did test the slower speeds with the superior liner. But once I got to 960 fps, I swapped out for the superior heavy. Both CF wrapped, epoxied.

So here’s the issue, I can’t find KO in stock anywhere.
So I’m going though NSA slugs, they don’t make a slug in .251”

My experience with slugs tells me dia is probably the most important factor in getting good performance.

Take a look at https://avsslugs.com/

The offer multiple diameters in .25 and .30 which are a lot harder to find. Everyone and their brother are making .22 slugs in a range of diameters right now, but few are catering to the larger calibers. Hopefully the market catches up soon.

Looks nice, but that’s pretty expensive. Expect to use 100 to tune properly

I think one of the biggest reasons only .22 is being developed is only that cal is being publicized.
Most of that is coming out of countries that have limitation in place on larger calipers.

it’s weird that no push is being made in 25cal or even 30 cal.

JSB mk2 34 gr .25 pellets shoot fantastic at 970 FPS even at 125 yards with 700 mm superior heavy liner
