FX Superior Heavy or FX Superior Slug barrels. What is the difference?

I ordered a Superior Heavy .25 barrel from Utah Airguns, and I received a "Superior Slug" barrel instead. The barrel marking show

FX STX Superior Slug .25 TR 1:18 Art no. 20659 pid 12795.

This is different from a friends Superior Heavy .25 with the following markings.

FX STX Superior Heavy .25 TR 1:18 Art no. 20069 pid 7449

I send a email to Utah Airguns and probably won't hear back from them until Monday. Anybody know if I received the right "Superior Heavy" barrel and maybe just a name change from Superior Heavy to Superior Slug?

Very interesting.

According to the following chart, the Superior Heavy liner has a 1:18 twist rate; versus a 1:24 twist rate for the Superior liner.

I think I have a part number and name for a Superior Heavy barrel. I really wont know until I hear back from Utah Airguns. Since the 1:18 twist rate is the same as the Superior heavy, the" Superior Slug" barrel might be the same. Maybe with a different name? I will report back with my finding when available.

Most likely just a rebrand/rename because superior slug makes a lot more sense than superior heavy. it is possible also that they are making room for superior heavy slugs which also makes a lot of sense.

Measure the rifling rate. You ordered the 1 rev in 18 inches. I think you received the i in 24, which is an error. Believe me when I say you want the 1 in 18. That barrel shoots the JSB heavy pellet just as well as their slug with no tuning changes required.

You received an older Slug-A barrel not the newer STX heavy. I bet the one you have is 1:21

Push a pellet or slug through. Mine has a slight little choke at the muzzle but can feel it only after I high polish it.

Different names of the same thing. There's a superior and a superior heavy. Some call the heavy a slug liner (superior slug)

There used to be Pellet A, Pellet B and Slug A liners. Now it's just superior and superior heavy.

Saw Matt last nite on fairly new you tube. I understand him to say that there wasn't much difference between slug and heavy superior but twist rate. I'm sure that the twist is the key. However I've finally been able to tune my gen 1 Imp to shoot the 34 & 36 NSA slugs to a 2" group @ 125 yes. Superior heavy 25/700. MOA 34g JSB @ 100 and slugs real close to that. I've accepted that is as good as this gun gets maverick compact shoots MOA W/ 25g JSB. Real close w/ hybrid fx..

I spent about 2-3 hundred ZAN's so far (37 and 41 grain) and could not figure the speed to match the twist rate on Superior Heavy. Spiralling = spreading at variable distances.

Slug is 16 twist and SH is 18 twist. So they are not the same. Not sure where UA got that unfo
