Fx Superior or Superior Heavy for .177 heavy pellets

I've yet to see a heavy barrel available. Unless I'm wrong, I don't believe FX is making them.
Their liner range is:
"STX Superior
has a twist rate that’s optimal for use with standard pellets and light slugs, giving superior accuracy
Liner .177 Superior have twist rate 1:18 and are choked"

"STX Superior Heavy
has a special twist rate for use of heavy pellets and slugs, giving superior accuracy
Liner .177 Superior heavy have twist rate 1:18 with little harder grove and lighter choke than superior"

I dont know if the 13.43 and 16.20 counts as heavy pellets --> heavy liner

The .177 Superior heavy is their best liners so far. It shoots everything ok and some perfect.
The Superior heavy liner is far more all round compared to the Superior standard liner.
I shoot HN Baracuda FT in my garden with my crown at 700 fps. with pellet on pellet accuracy.

And it shoots ZAN 13, 16 and 20 gr. Zan slugs perfect if you have power enough.
JSB 10.03 and JSB 13.43 Knockouts is also very usable.

Shoots JSB Monsters and JSB Beast perfect too.
The last one should be shot at + 900 fps to shoot longer distances.

I have almost all Barrels from FX in 500, 600 and in 700 mm and the best compromise for me to my Crown is the 600 mm Superior Heavy.
The 700 mm Superior heavy DIY is long - very long but is needed to push Zan 16 gr. fast enough in my Crown.

Thx Engfred.
Hils dem begge ;)

I’ve had great success with the standard STX superior liner in my Dreamline Classic.

It uses the 500mm superlight barrel configuration.

Attached are some precision target results at 30 and 40 yards with the 13.4g pellet.

The interesting thing about the 13.4g (as opposed to the 10.3g) is that it is most accurate at 780 to 840fps. It doesn’t do as well at higher speeds. It may have been developed for field target shooters that must stay below 20 ft/lbs - but that’s just a guess.

In any case, the data from the 30 and 40 yard Challenge here on AGN bears this out - shooters of a variety of different air rifles have found the sub 840fps gives best results. The 10.3g can deliver great accuracy even above 900fps.

Hope this helps regarding the 13.4g. I’ve never used the 16g. A fellow AGN target shooter tried the 16g at a variety of velocities in a RAW TM1000 - without much success - he eventually retuned the rifle for the 13.4g with much better results.

[edit: for reference, the 10-ring on these targets is .125 inches in diameter]

What speed do you use on your heavy liner with 13.43 KO and 13g Zan?
