FX FX Trigger rework

I've never been completely happy with any of the FX triggers. They're not horrible, but they just lack that "feel" of a good trigger. It all boils down to the spring loaded ball set screw that constitutes the second stage and you are at the mercy of the spring tension on the ball. After much studying and trial and error, I could not come up with a good solution for a two stage trigger. I love two stage triggers and will develope them in every airgun I own if possible, but I'm also not against single stage triggers. Well, with some judicious screw removal and some very light stoning, and the addition of an over travel screw, the FX trigger is transformed into a stellar single stage trigger. I have mine set at around 6-8 ounces and very safe. I was surprised how well they came out.

I wish FX would address their triggers, and add a intermediate sear lever, so that the leverage can be optimized. The spring loaded ball is a strange, although not crazy, way of doing a second stage to a trigger. And if they had made it an adjustable ball tension, then the trigger would have been first rate.

I have to admit, I was on the verge of dumping some FX rifles because the trigger is just not conducive to long range precision shooting even though the guns are fully capable of extreme accuracy. Well, with this mod, I'm rethinking FX rifles. This is simply an amazing transformation of the trigger. I would rate this much better than the Boss trigger, which is a bear to get setup and adjusted to work correctly.

I've always heard people complain about FX triggers. But the only FX trigger that's had not the best feel has been the impact. All the other triggers have a smoother feel. Nonetheless it's never stopped me from hitting my mark well past 100yds. Am I gonna hit a dime everytime at that distance? No, but my groups are consistently tight unless I have to play with the wind.

I'll do a video tormorrow.
I'm not saying the FX triggers are terrible, they're just not up to the quality of many other airguns. I'll put the Crosman Challenger and Beji Marauder up against the FX any time and there's no comparison there. Let;s see....Cricket, Brocock, Daystate, Taipan, AGT, Airmaks, BSA, HW100, to name a few, have much better triggers. Maybe not right out of the box, but with adjustment, they're all much better, and in the case of the Weihrauch HW100, it's the best trigger, excepting true "match" triggers on Anschutz, FWB and Steyr, of any airgun, bar none.

I'm just saying the FX triggers, in general, just don't have the feel and true match quality as delivered, even when adjusted prperly. You are at the mercy of the spring tension in the ball tipped set screw. The FX trigger design, looks like an afterthought. A decent afterthought mind you, but none the less, and afterthought. To call it a "match" trigger is a joke.

I love FX guns, so I'm just pointing out a con, not disparaging the guns as a whole. My Dream Tac and M3 shoot so amazingly well, it's scary. Add a top notch trigger, and they'd be hard to beat in any sort of competition.

I get what you're saying, and I will agree that all of the other brands that you mentioned, of which i've tried most of. Do have a better trigger out of the box.

I have to agree with you on some of this. I always felt the same way from the first Impacts all the way through the M3's. They are much better in the M4's. I don't know if it can get any better to be honest. The Trigger in the M4 is a feel to behold. You can literally make it do whatever you want. It made me a cup of coffee this morning. :)

Did the trigger on the dreamline Tac a few weeks ago to MUCH improvement !!!
It took taking the edge of the sear wheel notch to a distinct sharp edge as well the sear where contacting wheel notch to a similar sharp edge.
Assembled with some moly on pins, sear area etc and adjusted via the stop plunger we got a very crisp & no creep trigger break of @ 4 ounces or so.
