FX Verminator MkII Suddenly Inaccurate

Hello,

As the title indicates, my Verminator Mk2 that used to plop pellets right on top of one another has suddenly started throwing flyers as far out as an inch at 30 yards. Initially, I thought I may have damaged the chamber oring and quickly replaced it. Sadly, the inconsistencies remained. I then checked the scope for movement and found it to be sound and free of problems. I even went as far as replacing the scope with one I knew to be reliable. Same problem.

I've cleaned the barrel until my patches came out as white as the driven snow. I've checked all screws for tightness. Still the gun groups poorly.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried running it over a chronograph? Also, did you check the shroud/moderator for any clipping? See if you can shoot it without the shroud.

Make sure you check that the moderator hasn't come unscrewed slightly.

Have you made sure the scope rings are evenly tighten and no cant in scope?

Thanks for the responses. I have indeed checked to make sure that there is no clipping or looseness of the moderator. I have also checked the scope rings. Everything is as it was when the gun was shooting very consistently. That's why it's such a mystery.

Pellet inconsistencies will do that. Just a shot in the dark. Wish I could help.

If your Verminator has the 3 position velocity wheel sometimes it is not adjusted correctly. I didn't see where you checked velocity. Good luck., Scott

Scott, Thanks for the input. I'm going to check the velocity tomorrow.

Regarding the 3 position velocity wheel; I removed it today and checked and replaced the o rings

Flyers persist..

For anyone who may have been following this, I ultimately checked pellet velocities and they were all over the place. I disassembled the gun, rebuilt the FX regulator and saw no appreciable difference. I'm not sure why anything would go wrong with the original regulator, but when I replaced it with a Huma, the gun began to function as it had before. i.e., pellet on pellet accuracy.

It bears mentioning, however, that replacing the stock regulator with a Huma regulator was not a drop in procedure as indicated by the Huma website. After my initial installation I noticed a distinct metallic "CLICK" every time I put air into the rifle. It didn't take long to figure out that the original regulator was locked into place but the Huma regulator wasn't. This allowed the Huma to slide around in the bore and bottom out after each addition of air.

So what I did was to examine both of the regulators, take note of the dimensional differences, and then machine a thin ring to fit around the Huma regulator to recreate the dimensions of the original FX regulator. Once I did that, the regulator was locked into place as the original was. The clicking noise vanished and the regulator now does precisely what it was meant to do.

maybe the Oring of the piston of the regulator was broken, it a little one and its the heart of the reg, without it working correctly, rifle works as an unregulated and begin to achieve crazy high speeds, 1000+ fps....
