FX Fx wilcat mk3 problem with power

Hello, could you help me with the problem I have, it's with a Wilkat MK3 compact, I changed the Huma regulator and adjusted it to 105 bar and the 4 on the adjustment wheel to a speed of 885 fps with a 18 gr JSB, it's a .22 cal. What happens is that if I stop shooting for more than 15 minutes it loses consistency and drops to 865 fps and I have to shoot 3 or 4 times to get it back to 885 fps. I don't know what can be done to stop this from happening, because it's very annoying when hunting. Thank you for your help.

buy a ghost

I almost sold my Maverick to get a ghost but then when I priced a barrel I said no thanks . The Ghost has a higher scope to bore dimension than most and the compact is around a half pound heavier than the FX . Plus it's almost $1000 more than my Maverick was . So with the higher cost of everything "ghost" I stayed with my FX . Guys aren't having valve problems with their fx either . It's all about personal choice and not the flavor of the month .The only daystate that interests me in the Huntsman . There are thousands of happy fx owners out there and guys that keep them when money isn't an issue . Glad you enjoy your pcp but it's not the solution for everyone.

I changed it because they say that Huma is more even and consistent ☹️☹️☹️
I dont want to discourage you but my FXs all shoot single digit ES with healthy factory regs. The Huma is a nice upgrade, but more for longevity and higher performance imo.

Your issue is a little perplexing. Usually with the FX leaking reg only your first shot is lower fps due to the higher plenum pressure. Is your Wildcat a tube version or a bottle version? If you have the bottle version, perhaps the giant plenum is the reason why you have to shoot 3-4 shots to get down to normal.

I'm sure you vented all air pressure before adjusting HUMA regulator as damage can result, in certain circumstances, if not. WM
Yes, but I have noticed that it is only consistent without losing any speed if I adjust the hammer to 920 fps so it does not vary much, only 4 or 5 fps when I stop shooting if I adjust it to 880 then the speed drops if I stop shooting for 5 minutes it drops to 860

Pic is a factory wildcat string over two mags (chrony missed a few shots), started after the gun sat for a couple of days. Factory reg is perfect on mine. Did you have any issues before you put the huma in?

Just my opinion but unfortunately it’s part of the hobby. I have had all kinds of guns do this. It isn’t just an fx problem. If you out there in pcp land have a gun that you can leave sit and it is spot on right out of the gate I honestly believe you are one of the lucky ones not the usual. Even my delta wolf does it. It’s air pressure it just isn’t going to stay consistent over time like pressure created in an instance inside a firearm cartridge. Just is what it is. How far are your shooting distances in all reality small game hunting? I bet that 860 fps vs 885 isn’t amounting to as much of a difference as you think. 20 fps is kind of nothing.

Hi alcuerna. You have an air gauge to tell you what the air pressure is in the plenum, right? From what I've read, you haven't said anything about your plenum pressure other than you set it to 105 bar. It would help if you would write down the indicated plenum pressure immediately before each shot and post a list of the measurements. Otherwise we have no way of knowing if the regulator is OK or not. Hopefully you have a good pressure gauge.

A thought that comes to mind: I've noticed on my Mk3 that if the HS and reg pressure are not properly balanced, the plenum doesn't recharge fully on each shot (usually at low reg pressures like you are mentioning). When this happens I get inconsistent strings of shots as the plenum drains over the course of multiple shots, and then refills.

It is audible - you can hear the plenum refill, and if you aren't hearing that hiss after each shot, or are only hearing it after a few shots, it may just indicate that you have some tuning to do rather than that something is wrong with your reg. It is possible to be in the sweet spot of velocity for a projectile and not be optimally tuned for air consumption, in my experience.

Personally I would start with a bit higher rear reg pressure and adjust the HS to match that. Most of what I have seen online from guys who are really good at tuning these guns is that the Mk3 dual reg system operates best at higher reg pressures. I have found that to be true as well. Don't forget with the dual reg system that you need to keep the difference between front and rear reg within a certain window, too.
