The .177 and the .22 look quite comfortable to carry upside down holding the hole in the stock. Has anyone tried this with the .25 cal? Was it easy or too long to comfortably walk in the woods holding it this way?
I have a ,25 and I would say that depending on the size of the person and the scope on it it varies. If you are tall then it should work. With a scope it is also on the side of heavy, but not too much. I haven't yet taken it on any good hunting trips to give you a better answer.

I wear 30x30 pants and I can carry my .25 that way. However, it is too close to the ground for my comfort level so, I try to refrain from carrying it like that. I learned my lesson the hard way with my Edgun when I nicked the end of the barrel on a rock. I was holding it by the rear "hook" while walking through the woods. If I do carry the WC inverted by the stock hole, I use the forward hole and press my thumb against the bottom of the stock. This raises the end of the barrel slightly and decreases my chances of accidentally bumping anything.
I've also found myself carrying it by cradling it in my arms across my chest.
