FX Wildcat Mk2 Compact Do's and Don'ts

I will soon be the owner of my dream gun, the Wildcat Mk2 Compact in 25 caliber! I was just curious what tips you guys had for a new wildcat owner. I know I have read a couple of different things like don't try to fire the gun with the safety on, as I believe it messes the trigger mechanism up. The other I remember reading was that there was some kind of set screw that is easily stripped, but I don't remember what it was. I don't plan on modifying or really playing with the power other than the factory settings, but if there are some adjustments that people do out of the box I would be interested in knowing about them.I have also read that the reg is kind of prone to failure, and that people replace it with a huma, is this true? Thanks in advance for the knowledge dump!

P.S. is there anything to the included suppressor like baffles, or is it just an empty tube?

BIGVITAMIN____ you're gonna' love that "Compact"....! I've had mine a few months & hands down it's the all round best designed (for me anyway) AG I've ever owned.

Correct on the factory LDC - it's just a can & doesn't do anything. I put a DonnyFL Tatsu on mine & very pleased with looks & sound.

I second what HOOKSTER said, buy 2 or 3 extra mags & mag holders it'll add a lot to the overall enjoyment of the gun.

The trigger outta the box is pretty damn nice but I did lighten mine a dab.

There have been some post of regs not holding up, didn't have any problems with mine but I did notice some irregularities in pressure so stuck a HUMA in it.

ONE CAUTION, if you get inside the gun, like swapping out the regulator, I'd strongly suggest you read "CHUCKS" post about resetting the pellet probe

to the correct depth.

Lastly. . . . . . . buy lots of JSB pellets - you're gonna need 'em.....

I have been having the brother to your gun for going on 2 years. It has the true Smooth Twist barrel which I like better. You can polish the actuating arm that rotates the magazine. Or should I say, the rail upon which the cocking mechanism rides on. This will give a smoother side lever, draw. The trigger grouping on these guns is difficult to get correct. That is because unlike Daystate, FX has no lock nut/screw to lock it into place when you have it exactly as you like it. The result is often going back in and retuning the trigger after several hundred shots. Or less. It will require blue loctite and you have to be fast. The triggers are far from perfect , straight out of the box, contrary to what Im reading here. ( unless FX did a trigger grouping overhaul on the next generation.) Once straightened out, these are excellent shooters. Especially good at long range, I find. I have never had a problem with the factory regulator. When shooting for inherent accuracy, you have a hell of a lot more to worry about than 2-4 feet per second deviation. Its easy to change regulators , should you desire. I never have done so and have no reason to. Learn how to change breech orings. You will have to do that at some point. Mark your clamps that go around the air tube with a sharpie. Be sure to put back in same place or youre trigger grouping won't be where it needs to be. The barrel is held into place by one robust grub screw. When putting the barrel back on, it must be exactly where the marking is that the grub screw makes on it. Which also serves as a form of barrel index mark. If you get this wrong, the magazine will not cycle. Anyway thats about all I can add to this. You will like this gun. They are nice.
