Tuning FX Wildcat MK3 - sudden dramatic velocity loss

Well I guess I just made a mistake ... I sent the rife to FX of course. They called several days ago and said they couldn't find anything wrong and the rifle was shooting with the same velocity I reported it doing out of the box. I asked them to double-check. I got the rifle back today with their notes, etc. No problem found. So - I took the rifle downstairs and strapped on the FX chrony. Same velocity drop I'd seen before I sent it. I started to get a little miffed. Then, I started to wonder....I got out the old Caldwell chrony with the screens and IR lights, etc. Sure enough - velocity pretty much the same as it was when I got it. Turns out the FX chrony has gone south as far as I can tell (more tests tomorrow). 😖 I sure wish I had tested that BEFORE I sent the rifle to FX. Oh well -- live and learn.

The final solution -- I retested the FX Radar with my Pulsar where I know the speed of given pellets, etc. and it was very erratic. One shot string would be spot on and the next string (after a disconnect and connect) would be very low - as much as 40 FPS low. I was shooting with the FX Radar attached and the pellets going through a Caldwell chronograph - the difference was obvious. So I called FX. The customer support person suggest that before I get an RMA, to check the batteries and the uninstall and reinstall the app. I checked the batteries - they were fine. So I uninstalled and then reinstalled the FX Radar app. I then retested using the FX Radar and Caldwell chronograph at the same time. Problem solved! The speed were within a few FPS of each other for all pellets and various power levels.

So - problem solved. But - how do I know it won't happen again? And would I realize it if it did; especially with a new untested pellet or tune? Probably best to use the two chronographs I have to verify each other for critical applications I think.

There was some "more than would be expected" variation within a shot string. The big difference was if you disconnected the FX Radar (as in when you change the profile or something) and then do another string the results cold be very different. But - since I reinstalled the app, I've disconnected and reconnected many times and the results were right along with the more traditional Caldwell chronograph.
