I have the FX Impact .30 (not the Wildcat, but very similar) and the Edgun R5M Long .177.
Both are really nice guns. Neither are w/o problems.
FX, completely problem free for 2+ years, then developed a slight leak. Has been back to FX 3 times now. Each time it gets more upgrades. Now it's shooting hole on hole 50yd groups w/ the 44gr, right around 1000fps. I'm not impressed with 50 yd groups, but I just got it back.
Edgun, came w/ a loose stock. Brian replaced it with a laminate blem which I'm happy with. Had several failure-to-fire events when new. Didn't get much help on this, but my own diagnosis was to turn the rod that Brian says in latest vid not to monkey with. Works perfectly now. Fills super slow, like 1psi / 5 sec. Edgun electronic gauge is a pita. Gotta keep turning it on while it's filling. I got a Wika to replace it with and am searching for this adjustment on the slow fill. Also, mags shoot empty. Major design flaw IMHO. Yes, I can count to 11, but am doing other things and seems like I always have to hit the empty one. Gun feels very good. Heavy. Trigger is almost as nice as Impact's. It's not quite as accurate as the Impact. If there was an R5M in .30, I'd probably get one of those too.
If I had to choose between them, it'd be the Impact w/o a doubt, luv that thing. Not a dis on Ed, but there's some stuff the Impact does better and feels better doing it.
FYI: I have metal bearings and trigger on my R5M.
