FX Wildcat service

These rifles we talk about and we ( Joe the most) post about are just only steel , plastic and anodized aluminium anyway.... Why all the hassle on this forum....!!! Joe what if we would say this to you after you made all your efforts posting about your nice rifles and performances !!

None of this might be a big deal for you Joe but so many people buying an FX are currently mislead by wrong specs and that is a big deal to me . Wimpanzee received a premium additional power plenum now after his complaints that the rifle did not deliver the advertised power ( minus 30% at least) . This is what should be in the out of the box package when FX was to live up to their sales specs. You don’t care because you know the way to make things work as you wish but 99% of the buyers out there do not and for them it is that I want to state my case .

if you want to downplay my point because of whatever reason or connection with the FX brand that is fine but don’t get back to me that this is all only about a anodized aluminum threaded piece of pipe ! In that case all your postings can expect similar response .

I am super happy to have my WC3 back. I think FX did a great job on delivering the specs as promised. It is a threaded piece of pipe, but it is also the time and resources for tuning the gun to shoot at the requested specs. It was a wait, but for me it was worth waiting for. I have taken my dreamline mostly apart, but I didn't want to quite dig into to it quite as deep as Joe did on a brand new piece - I have way too many thumbs :)

The tech and CS rep did say that the work was done under warranty, so anyone wishing to get the same treatment should have that option available.

I do already have some .25 29gr NSA slugs, my dreamline really likes them. I plan to try them too!

Looks like this piece is almost 1.25 inches exposed:

Indeed Wimpanzee I am happy for you and for the fact that everybody who bought a FX Wildcat MKIII till now can claim a free power plenum ! FX does take its responsibility to deliver what they advertise indeed ! Also FX does obviously not take their own advise to adjust the regulator NOT above 160 bar serious as they have tuned yours at 170+ when they returned it. This gives to the public informal permission to do so as well in my perception. Great progress FX !!!

Just to be sure that nobody fails to have the FX official manual part related to regulator pressure on their radar, I post a copy below:

it seems that the 160 bar limit is not valid anymore as Wimpamzee received his rifle back from FX USA service centre with regulator set above 170 bar .

“Externally Adjustable Regulator
The adjustable AMP regulator is located either on the bottle adapter (1). or installed within the Tube with an access hole pointing downwards (2).
Stock need to be removed to get to the adjustment hole on tube models (2). There are two screw holding the stock in place, one is situated near the trigger guard and the other one further back on the stock.
To adjust the regulator pressure higher, turn the regulator AMP screw counter- clockwise slowly while looking at the regulator manometer located on the left hand side of the gun. To lower the regulator pressure, turn the regulator AMP screw clockwise a quarter turn at a time, dry firing the rifle until the correct pressure is achieved. Make sure your rifle is not loaded before dry firing.
NOTICE – Fire in a safe direction.
NOTICE – NEVER adjust the regulator above 160 BAR as damage to the system may occur and will void your warranty!
NOTICE – NEVER use the gun below the set regulator pressure as damage to the system may occur and will void your warranty! “

Wimpanzee - that appears to be the Ernest Rowe 1.2” plenum extension. You’re fpe is way up there, even after turning your reg down quite a bit. We’ve seen it take two of those extensions to get in that neighborhood so I wonder if FX did anything else to your rifle to get it there with just the one?!??!

I wonder if the 2.5” extension would have any added benefit over the 1.2”?

So doesn't seem to like the heavier slugs, but the 29gr NSAs do well, and the FX hybrids are amazing. I've settled it to 150 bar reg, the hybrids are going out at 1000fps (and ES of 3! 1004 to 1007 for 10 shots) and mostly going in one hole at 25 yards. I can't wait until we get a decent day to hit the range. At this reg setting, PW 5, 6, and 7 are all about the same. I've got the adjuster screw set so PW 1 just barely provides the slightest visible preload. So I could go heavier on that screw if I wanted to. I had the NSA 33.5 at 930 and the 36.2 at 900 with the reg at 160, but neither seemed accurate, so I turned the reg down to 150, and got really good results with the lighter slugs. Since they do so well like this, I probably won't buy the heavier liner. Oh, and with those FX slugs, I get 2 full clips from 250 to 150, 32 shots. At the 72fpe from service, I was only getting 1 magazine.

Now that this is shooting slugs so well, I am really looking forward to minifying my dreamline into a compact version and just shoot pellets from it. Fun times!

I might bump it back up. I have some suspicion there is some extra hammer weight or spacer or something to help open it at higher pressures which result in what is likely to be an inefficient peak at lower pressure.

I had lowered it this last time due to some accuracy issues, but I discovered I was clipping the moderator. After drilling that out to 5/16 its not tumbling pellet - I had thought they were too fast and tumbling. So now that it shoots straight, might be time to crank it up again. It's just hot as poop here right now, so my shooting sessions have been early but brief...
