FX wildcat unshrouded barrel

Hi . New to the forum but have been lurking for some time. 
Just received a .25 cal WC but unshrouded as in Australia. I took the muzzle break off out of interest expecting to see a short threaded section but was surprised to find this. I haven't seen any images like this on the net so far. 
Are they all like that ?

I believe what you are seeing is the portion of the barrel to which the Smooth Twist "rifling" is applied from the outside.

Why is the Aussie gun unshrouded?

I have one in Auckland waiting for me and now I wonder if it is unshrouded. (have not seen it yet)

What's the story around that if you know it?

So all the smooth twist barrels throughout the range look like that? ... Well there you go! Must make life difficult for folk wanting to put simple moderators on !!!

Poorshot it is related to Australian laws that do not allow any form of sound reduction on any guns including air rifles . I don't know what the laws in NZ are .... That will determine what you get I would imagine.

Nope As far as I know there is 1/2x20UNF cut on the end of the short sleeve.

Nope - still easy to add a moderator. That muzzle flip you removed is actually TWO pieces (the stem and the flip). If you unscrew them, you will find a common thread (that weatherby clarified) that will allow the attachment of most moderators.

Here's what the muzzle flip looks like without the stem attached.

Thanks Jim, I will call the store Monday but I got a bit of a surprise.

I feel sure N.Z allows shrouds so far......but they are reviewing our gun laws next year I hear so keen to get my wildcat just in case.
