FYI, Hawke 4x32 AO for $62. at Midway

edit: the next day, I don't see that model on clearance anymore, now it's the 4-12x40, and for ~$140 plus what looks like a $15 discount and $20 mail in rebate. If it really ends up at $105 that's not bad either!

I have not tried this scope but in my past with PB, I usually equipped hunting rifles with fixed power scopes as they were generally more durable and lacking the zoom, had better contrast and sharpness than variable scopes. I definitely would not turn my nose up to a fixed power scope.
Right, and with a fixed power, I don't have to be at a particular zoom power or do complicated thinking to figure out distances and holdovers. Even with a variable scope I tend to use only two powers: nx and 2nx (say, 5x and 10x), just to keep the math easy.
