Gamo Gamo NP to spring conversion kit

With a spring activated airgun one can increase or decrease the power
by adding shims or cutting off the spring. With NP activated gun you are
stuck with whatever the nitro piston offers. Options would be a custom NP
spring, but are there any that manufactures them? Or, replace the NP with
stronger spring. Has anybody done the conversion, what is involved and
how happy with the results?

If they can hit the projected price point and deliver decent accuracy (1/2 inch at 20 yards?) at all power levels, I think they have a winner on their hands. If not, it's just another big box gimmicky entry level throwaway air rifle that's going to disappoint most shooters.

From your previous postings, it seems like you are searching for that 1000 fps magic number out of a springer or gas ram (or trying to modify your Gamos to shoot around 1000fps or higher). Fair warning, it's a seductive path that will siphon away your time and funds but may enlighten you about what most of us ultimately demand of our rifles ...accuracy.

If you are searching for an accurate magnum power spring/gas ram type air rifle, a better option might be PCPs. Zero to minimum recoil, easier to shoot, flatter learning curve. But if you want to tinker and push the power limits of those Gamos and are happy with can size plinking accuracy/ 2-3 inches at 20 yards. These Gamos are perfect for that endeavor.

Thanks for the suggestion. That Omnistorm ram sure looks appealing. Will be some time before price will be reasonable, since many will want to experiment with it.
Am new to air guns, and find it a interesting hobby. Made a lighter piston just to prove that it will slow down the speed of the pellet, as opposed to the expected increase. Since at it, would like to bring back the speed. Not to 1000 fps, but close to 900 would be nice. Factory speed was mid 700. Will try with a stronger helical spring. Was wondering if anybody has converted a Gamo NP to spring and willing to share the experience. I will do it anyways, just for the fun of it! No PCP for me. At least, not yet!

I have 1997 Daisy 1000, which is a Gamo, made for Daisy. I did the opposite of what you are asking. I converted the spring powerplant to a gas-ram. Way less parts- so you will need more parts that your gun doesnt already have (spring, guides top hat, and some other stuff.
I gained about 70fps. The gun was more hold-sensitive w/spring. The gas ram made it a scope killer(3 and counting) even with a zero recoil mount.

If is a scope killer, why not go back? If you want that extra 70 fps, can get a stronger or longer spring, or just shim it up a little. Hope you don't mind me asking. What caliber and what speed did it have factory? Mine is a Gamo Bonne Collector Gen.3 in .22 cal. With a 14.66 gr. Premier pellets was getting 770's, and with the 30% lighter piston 730's fps. Have ordered a spring and Weihrauch style seal. Other than spring guide don't see a need for anything else. May make a top hat, but the piston I.D. is close to the springs dia. so don't think will need one.
So far, the scope is holding on.
