Gamo question

I picked up a Gamo hunter sport .177 for $30 at my friend's pawn shop today. It's in very good condition. He let me test it in his back room and everything seems okay. There is no scope but have extras. I'll mount one in a few days.

Can anyone tell me about this gun. Haven't been able to find much on it. I will be doing a tune and rebuild. Can I covert it to a gas ram? Or where can I get seals and a spring for it?

I would just tighten everything up and just leave it alone if it already shoots to spec because it's already a difficult gun to shoot accurately and introducing a gas ram may make it next to impossible to reliably hit your targets.

If anything, a detune would probably help if it's hard to shoot at factory spec power level.

Already tightened will shoot it as is. Never have owned a gun I didn't tear down a check. Would like to clean and polish chamber a new seal, with a proper lube.

I own 2 gamo hunter models and have tuned and replaces springs on them. Both are shooting dimes and quarters at 25 even on a bad day. I could PM you with details of what I’ve done. They’re a very under rated platform.

That is 😎

I wouldn’t replace the spring. People always hate on springs, but if you do a little TLC tune like you do on your Hatsans it will be as smooth and more reliable than a gas ram. Remember too. The spring doesn’t have seals for its pneumatic chamber, so that is one fail point that won’t happen, and cold air and hot air doesn’t effect the fps of the piston with a spring like it does with a ram 🐏

Also springs are better for altitude

I always try to keep a spring powered gun that way. Most of my spring guns have a smoother cycle after a good tune .You can only do so much with a gas ram. But I do like them.

Springer you can do a number of things, simple tune. Maybe a guide. Etc....

Yes my spring powered guns do perform more consistently than gas rams in cold weather.
