Gamo Gamo Urban not firing help

Hi All

I have a Gamo Urban .22
Filled to about 4,000 psi

The gun won’t fire with any air.

The trigger works and firing bolt move to the correct position - after pulling trigger but there is no loud boom and no pressure from the air portion of the gun

Any ideas?

Dugan, 4000 psi is 1000 over Gamo Urban limits. I would be surprised if you haven't blown some seals in the Urban. Is it holding pressure? I have found 2800 psi gives best shot groups, 30-35 shots. Possible obstruction in the barrel? Bill

Dugan, With that much pressure it could be air locked. Being unable to shoot pressure down, Gently loosen psi gauge until you hear slight air noise. Let it degas slowly to lower psi then try shooting again. Good Luck. Bill

What blue grass said. You will have to bleed out the excess air as it is way over filled therefore the hammer doesn’t have enough force to open the valve and actually fire air.

You all sound quite knowledgeable - can you further explain that concept of the hammer not having enough force?

If it was over filled I would have thought there would be too much force.

How does the hammer mechanism work?

Hammer needs to open the valve. Too much pressure fights against the hammer's ability to overcome the air pressure on the valve.

Ok - got home and it was loaded to right below 4000 bad

I drained it per your feedback and got it to 2000

Tightened it up still no fire action

I guess I damaged something

Is this worth repairing or take my loss?

4000psi, uh why?The Urban is one of the best buys in a PCP, why did you overfill it?

Gamo Urbans can be filled to 232 bar or 3365 psi.

Fix it, learn from it, and make sure you read the instructions first,I think it may be a minor problem to fix it, remember to get all the air out of it first, Good Luck .

I mentioned to you on the other forum that it could be a broken poppet stem. I didn't know about the over pressure situation then, but that could be the cause of a broken stem.

I over filled it by mistake
Big error totally an accident

I thought the red was still ok but to just be careful when filling

I made a stupid assumption

I don’t use often so I screwed up

Being that I am new to this I would rather replace full mechanisms rather than gears or springs and gaskets
