I've had several chronographs including ohler , chrony , Labrador. I wish I had the Garmin before All these. The Garmin is the the easiest to use chronograph I've ever used or seen anyone use. If it misses a shot it's because I had a brain fart like having it facing the wrong way!!!

I keep going back and forth a Garmin or new gun. New gun, Garmin. It’s driving me crazy, that Garmin is a quality device, so good you could easily set it up and use it all the time. IMHO, from the reviews the others are not as quality for $600, as easy to routinely set up and consistently on point. I want one bad but I want a new HW97, that’s painful.

I got one from miyar adventures with 15% off. That was a saving of $89 off and free shipping. It reads every shot from all my pcp even airsoft guns. I compare it to my old folding shooting chrony beta. It's about 10-20 fps difference. So don't know which is telling me the right speed.

If you can afford the $600 price tag it is way better than the fx chrony. It's about the same size. Built in battery. Built in screen, do not need your phone but can be connected to your phone for more data. Also it will read up to 100-5000 fps. That means you can use it for airsoft, airgun, bow, and firearm. Fx chonry is limit to 1200 fps max.

I was at the pellet shop today. It’s what they use in house for setup, repairs and tuning. Head of dept. said it works great and highly recommends it.

Everyone loves them. Now I have never used one but I personally would never give 600 bucks for what it is. Granted I don’t need one for firearm velocity so the fx at 1/3 the price is fine. However Caldwell makes one now that is 100 bucks cheaper and I’m pretty sure does bc calculations. To each their own though.

i wouldn't go with the Caldwell ..some reports on missed shots with smaller calibers with that one

I have the original FX crono, which is still working fine. Sure it’s a battery hog but it works as designed. What does the Garmin do that is worth $500 more money?

Love my Garmin chrony. Have literally shot +-2500 rounds using it to measure fps and can categorically say it has not missed one yet.
Battery life is good for a long day at range and easy to charge in car on my way to range if needed.
Setup is almost instant, take it out of bag, unfold the supplied tripod's 3 short legs place on table and you are ready to go.
Not placement sensitive within reason, does not affect poi like hanging a fx chrony on shroud\barrel.
Measures speed very close to barrel, much closer than Garmin advertise which is great as closer to barrel reading is truer of actual MV.
I am approaching paying it off in battery savings value for my old fx pocket chrony, batteries are expensive in my part of world.

I’ve used chronographs for years but they were always so much work to setup I only used them for testing. Since I got the XERO it is just so easy I use it most of the time. We’ll worth the cost.

Yeah I read more on the Caldwell and it looks like it is recoil triggered which wouldn’t be optimal for our sport. They almost had a gem.

My bit of experience with the garmin has been really nice vs. setting up the tripod and having to pause for each shot. I can connect it to my phone and I know it’ll track very accurately

I shoot bucket and styx alot and if i want to check velocity i just hold it on top of my styx works great so convenient!
