Garmin shot view App is TERRIBLE

My wife got me a Garmin xero for Christmas. I downloaded the Shot View app on my IPad and Android phone. I rattled off a few sessions Christmas day. The sessions uploaded to both my phone and IPad. The next day it was one or the other. With no control of which received the sessions. After an extensive internet search i find out you can only pair a xero with one device.

That kinda sucks because my phone goes to the range and use the Ipad to complile data and make notes.

Ok i deleted my ipad's shot view app with intension of just using my phone to export the files for later use.

Here's what bothers me the most. I shoot a lot of ten shot strings when tuning springers. Dozens of them in a day. Most need to be dumped on site. Unless I turn it off my phone collects all of them whether I want it to or not. This makes a long list of useless sessions that I have to delete from the phone one at a time. It yakes frigg'n forever.

The unit itself isn’t much better. You have to delete session one at a time or clear them all in setting.

I'm a long time marine user of Garmin Fishfinder, GPS, Radar and Navigation units. This is typical of them. Incredible electronic concepts occasionally excucuted well and seldom practical supporting software. The chronograph is amazing but the accompanying shot view apps are so stripped of functionality they're almost useless.

Both the apps and the unit should alow you to select multiple sessions and delete them from the existing menu.

Just letting people know what to expect.

I thought about trying the app, but talked myself out of it a couple of times. Now I read how much trouble people are having with updates and things not working afterwards, and just not a good app in general. I think I'll just use it as is. The deleting part is a small price to pay for a one min set up chrony, that never misses my shots. I've been happy with mine the way it is, I don't need the other hassles with the app..lol.

I have the GARMIN and the app on my IPhone.
The data transfers seamlessly.
I then text the data to my iPad.
Then I take photos of the data and paste the data in my Pages word processor.
Then I erase all data from the iPhone and delete all texts.
It works great.
I have been using chronographs for more than 50 years.
I have had them all.
I gave a P.A.C.T Model I to our local club to use for their reloading classes.
I still have my P.A.C.T professional and MKIV chronographs.

Too, unfortunately they do not have a spell-checker..🤣

can you delete multiple sessions on your iPhone when you erase the data?

I use the ShotView app on both my iPad mini and iPad Pro all the time. The iPad mini collects the sessions, it’s paired with the Xero. I have Garmins cloud sync turned on both iPad. You will need to be signed to your Garmin account, on the iPad Pro I click the circle on the top left with the face in it. Scroll down & you’ll see Force Cloud Sync click it & all new/changed sessions will download. If I make changes on the iPad Pro I then force a sync on both iPads so they mirror one another. Kind of a clunky work around but it works.

Thanks. I'll try to see if I can apply the same concept to my android phone and ipad.
