Garmin Xero C1 firmware update

If anyone cares. I herd prior to v3.27, there was a way to enter developer options under settings, about and clicking ok 5 times. You then were able to adjust how far out it took its measurements etc. This latest update locked this out. It's highly unlikely, but it sure would be nice to measure bc with a future update.
It's pretty low powered, and smaller projectiles are hard (even for Labradar 1, which is much more power hungry). I wouldn't expect a useful BC measurement to ever come. I'm sure Garmin (and if not them, then Labradar 2) would have been very happy to include BC as a feature if it were possible.

That’s a new one to me, never heard that, I’m going to try it when my replacement gets here. That is assuming it isn’t already on v3.27

Mine is acting up again today, losing strings. I just lost a 35 shot string and i watched all the shots record, and ended the session, and it showed up in history. When i went to call it up, it was gone and didn't download to my phone.

Really frustrating. Mine is still in the return window, so i dunno. I love the thing, but this is terrible.

Had a few incedents similar to yours come to find out my Zero was no longer connected to my iPad. When I connected it all the missing sessions were downloaded to my iPad.

Update:
I traded emails with the CS rep I had been talking to, a great guy who was really trying to help me through the problems. I can't say enough good about him and Garmin. This is the kind of CS every product should have.

I explained I was still have flaky problems with the unit not keeping sessions, and occasionally not downloading them to the app. He immediately offered to replace my unit, which I've agreed to do.

Now, as an aside, something occurred to me.

This is the second Garmin I've used. The first unit I tried out, downloaded to the app so fast, that I never picked up my phone fast enough to see the download. It was already done when I picked it up.
The very first time I used this unit, I noticed it took a bit for it to download to the app. I also noticed, later, that it sometimes would take me turning the unit off and back on to get it to download. I'm not sure what triggers a download to the app, but it's a questionable circumstance considering how the first one downloaded. Maybe nothing, but I'm guessing there's an issue here.

Lastly, someone mentioned keeping a previous firmware. I'm not sure how you would do that, as updates are automatic. When I turned my unit on for the first time, it went into the firmware update mode and was unuseable until it finished.

For anyone considering the Garmin, I must say, that when it worked, it worked so well it is worth every penny. It NEVER misses a shot, and setup is so easy, my dog could do it, but then agains, she's pretty smart:) I've read all the hassles getting LabRadar, and FX radars to work and record shots, NO SO with the Garmin, it just works every time. Even when I couldn't get it to save the sessions, it worked fine during the string and I read every shot off it. It just sometimes disappeared when I went into history to see it. Up until today, it had always downloaded these "ghost" sessions to the app even though you couldn't see them on the unit.

I got the new Garmin overnite (I paid for that) and tried it out today, so here's the scoop.

1) it's on firmware v3.21 and works very well
2) this firmware takes a second or two to give the velocity. v3.27 was giving me almost instant velocity readings, (just an observation)
3) I'm getting the EXACT same velocities as the other unit, so they're consistent from unit to unit for these two.
4) v3.21 uploads to my phone faster than I can push the buttons to "end a session" and pick up my phone laying on the table right next to me. v3.27 did not do that, it took several seconds or minutes, and at times, not at all, but never as instantly as the v3.21.

Observations and questions

I love the Garmin, it is the cat's ars for radar chronos. I can use it anytime, and setting it up is a couple seconds. I made a metal mount on my front rest, and installed a magnet base on the Garmin. So all I have to do is turn it on and set it on it's metal base and start shooing.

Garmin CS is fantastic. They seem to do business the old fashioned way, they take your calls, answer your emails and genuinely try to help the customer at all cost. I salute them and am a customer for life.

My question is....
Is this a firmware problem? Should I update to v3.27?
My thoughts are if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but I dunno.

Final note, I must appologize to whomever I said the firmware update was automatic and you likely couldn't refuse it. I could have sworn my other unit did it automatically. This one asked to update and so far, I've canceled it, so it is possible to remain on a previous version. I wish Garmin would give us the option to revert back to a previous version, and that may well be possible and I'm not aware of it. I will ask, but I appologize for saying you couldn't refuse an update.

I hope anyone having troubles will chime in and let us know. I have great faith in Garmin and I think this chrono is the best I've ever used, and I've had Oehlers, Caldwells, ProChronos, Chinese chronos, and probably some others over the years. I started chono'ing powder burners when Oehler first introduced the 35P and have chrono'd literally thousands of rounds over the years, and this is the easiest chrono I've ever used. It never misses a shot.

Exactly the reason I haven't messed with the app, I don't want updates installed automatically, if that is what they do, IDK. But mine is working great, and I don't need the app, so I'll use mine as is unless something happens.

Thanks for the update(s). Glad to hear it's working out. I've been avoiding the app for fear of updating. Sounds like I needn't worry.
Is anyone using v3.27 or newer without problems?

Mine is v3.27 and I haven’t noticed any change in functionality. I don’t always use the app and it’s been a bit since using it but I don’t recall any issues.

My replacement arrived yesterday it also has v3.21 firmware, haven’t connected it to Shotview yet. It’s cold here but I did take it outside & shot a mag by it from the Reximex. It saw & registered 7 out of 9 shots. Before I decide if it’s working right I want to try it with my Avenge-X .177 cal. I’m thinking I don’t have the proper placement when shooting the Reximex. Supposed to warm up the next couple of days so I’ll do some more testing.
