Gauntlet 30 best slugs

Hey guys,

My buddy just got the 30 gauntlet ordered from Hajimoto..

We're wondering what you are shooting for slugs between 50-100 yards. What does this airgun like?

For starters we ordered some NSA 47.2 grain slugs.

Reports are good on YouTube for the JSB knockouts as well.

But given there isn't a ton of info out there I thought I'd start a topic.

The airgun will be used for coons and possums etc. We'd like to get the best accuracy as possible rather than the most energy.

Thank you for your input.

I will be watching this thread, Thinking of getting the same gun myself. I will want to cast my own slugs but will want to try some factory ones as well for a benchmark.

Is it a Gauntlet 2? A good thread here on AGN for the Gauntlet 2 in 30 cal.

The 30 didn't come in version 1.

Im getting good groups with Nsa 303 47.2 grains. A little tight to load.

150 yards

This gun shoots JSB 44.75 / FX 44.8 well over 1000 fps and with precision accuracy. (you can also turn the hammer spring to minimum, double your shot count and get 75 fpe / 870 fps or so and the same accuracy depending on distance shooting)

I got a Hajimoto barrel band for mine recently and what a difference. It was good before. Now it's just so on point. Tough contest with my Challenger Pro 30!

I never did find a slug that would load into the breech at a level that seemed "normal" and not abusive to the probe. I may get the breech entry worked on at some point, as others have suggested. But I also may not. This gun loves shooting pellets at super high velocity and that means JSB Hades too.

I'll probably just be happy to use the G2 30 with pellets within 30 cal pellet slinging distances and use the Challenger Pro for long range slug slinging when I get the rare opportunity.

I did find Bob's 68 grain Boat Tail slugs weren't the hardest to load (still not good) and had respectable accuracy in the G2 30. The heavier NSAs grouped OK too but at a radically different POI versus pellets, and too difficult to load on a regular basis.
