I have a Gen 1, Prophet Performance LR in .22 which I just bought a .30 barrel kit for. Just wondered if anyone has a .30 and what your barrel likes for pellets and speed? And at what reg pressure and shot count from 300bar down to reg?
Does the LR barrel use polygonal or conventional rifling? This is what I do regardless of caliber. I tune for my hunting, so if you have a need tune for that. Are you going to shoot from 0 to 50 yards? To 100? Those two distances will give you a different velocity/tune.
The conventional way with pellets is to go slow and increase speed until you find a speed they will destabilize then you know your limits, but what I'm about to share was a main design focus on that barrel you have but never pick up in popularity, because slugs were the thing at the moment.
RTI won EBR with that barrel you have and they made it in a way pellets can be pushed much more faster than with their previous barrel, hence the LR, long range.
So TL/DR; put your target as far as you are going to shoot and find the most accurate speed, because that barrel you don't have to start that slow...slow is 880, my magic speed for pellets. But you can trt with my magic number and let me know how it goes.
Hope that helps
Good info.. thanksI played around with my RTI LW 24” .30 barrel yesterday and got the following results.
The RTI P1 was set up as a .25 with the Standard RTI 24” barrel.. not marked as CZ or LW..but LWs seem to be left “silver” and CZs are “black”..this .25 barrel was black.
Huma reg set at 127 bar from the factory. No way to test the veracity of the setting..I did not replace the foster fill tethering nipple with a gauge..which would be the only way I have to know the reg setting.
That said,.prior to switching calibers, the .25 shot JSB 33.95gr @ 890fps and FX Hybrid 26gr @ 942fps. Hammer spring was what came in the gun and was set around .375” from being flush from the butt plate.
I swapped the barrel to the .30 LW, made no adjustments and shot.
The crony reading I got for Edgun .30 44.75gr was 862fps and FX Hybrid 44gr was 842fps. Increasing hammer spring 2.5 turns.. did not change fps by any significant amount..and just ended up flushing air out the barrel after the shot. Accuracy was acceptable with the Edgun Diabolo, forming a nice clover leaf..all overlapping at 35yds..and the FX Hybrids going 3 into the same hole..then 4th and 5th going slightly right to make an elongated oval a little over .5”. Not complaining, but would like to get the Hybrids closer to 890-900.
I have another Huma that is set at 136 bar from the factory so I may swap that reg body in and retest. Or I’ll break out the original RTI adjustable for ease of testing. The RTI Adjustable was sidelined because while it did not creep, it would gradually leak to 0 bar when left in the case for a few days. :-(
I’ve been tempted to buy it twice. But like Jason, I want one but definitely don’t need one. My .25 with 34gr is as accurate as one would need to the extreme end of pellet shooting distance. Your price is absolutely fair. It will sell.@Jasonmc , I have a 30 barrel for sale in the classifieds now… Just sayin’![]()
Agree on the .25 with 34gr. Though I just got a couple of tins of the “odd ball” JTS 29.62gr to try.I’ve been tempted to buy it twice. But like Jason, I want one but definitely don’t need one. My .25 with 34gr is as accurate as one would need to the extreme end of pellet shooting distance. Your price is absolutely fair. It will sell.
Yep. Totally happy with the .25 performance but I’m in “keeping up with the Jones” mode..a friend has an Uragan 2 700mm which is a beast. He has the 44gr FX Hybrids going at 960fps so there’s a ground squirrel “pop factor” I’m chasing with the RTI.I just wanted to try 30 on a whim. It works great and very accurate but I need to face it that I am a 22 guy at heart and I just don’t need a 30.
