Gen 2 Marauder .22 regulator questions

In my seemingly never ending quest for accuracy in my .22 Marauder, I've found myself intrigued by regulating. I have installed a hammer forged barrel and am absolutely thrilled with the results. I want to compliment my barrel with consistency. As it sits now, I am getting 30 shots per fill with a 20 fps spread at 30 ft lbs. My question is if I install a regulator, will I keep my shot count at that energy and improve my consistency? Or better yet keep the energy and improve the shot count and consistency :) I understand it all depends on how I tune my Marauder, but with the way I have tuned it now, I'm confident I can get the most out of a regulator. I've been looking at both the Lane and Huma regulators. I am not concerned about drilling holes or removing my reservoir gauge. So if you have installed a regulator on your .22 Marauder, please post your results. My goal is to have the ultimate .22 Marauder in the accuracy department while still keeping enough power to shoot innocent woodland creatures (legally of course) without dropping enough cash to have purchased a higher end rifle. That for me is keeping it under $1000 total cost of gun and mods. I don't include scopes or any other accessories due to the fact that you need those things on any rifle you purchase. I have about $175 left in my bargain build for my Marauder. More than enough for a regulator.

I have a Huma in my 1st gen .22. I took a different rout with mine than most. I wanted a high power regulated .22. I went with the .25 cal Huma reg for its increased plenum size. I also installed a Tim Hill gage block which adds more volume yet. I tried with and with out the gage block but got slightly more power with the extra volume the Hill gage block allows. (I tried the stock one as well) I also have a Hill Valve and .160 transfer port and drilled the barrel port to match. As far as I know I have the stock hammer spring in it still. With this set up I am getting about 16 shots at 39 FPE. Now I'm sure there is room for improvement with more tuning as far as shot count goes. But before I do that I need to do what you did and replace the barrel. My barrel sucks! The Huma reg is very nice and works well. It virtually eliminates the power curve which make for very consistent POI especially at longer ranges. Most regulated guns are tuned for lower power than what I did. But wanted to see what could be done for max power. Any more power would be pointless As it would be over driving the pellets. It pushes JSB18 gr at 960 fps and Baracuda's at 930.

I made a post about it http://airgunnation.dev/topic/regulating-the-marauder-pistol/

Based on what I saw, if unregulated power is high, you won't get the same shot count at the same power. You will have to sacrifice alittle power to get your shot count but your results may very? I think the Huma reg is the way to go and the customer service is as good as it gets from Air Superiority Products!!

If you want to get serious about accuracy, I highly recommend you follow Yrrah (Harry) and the discussions about pellet sizing and such in the pellet sub forum.

Thanks for the info guys. Nice P Rod AJ :) I don't think I'm going to dive into any valve work or messing with the transfer port. 30 ft lbs is the right amount of energy for my needs with this rifle. I have permission from my handler (wife) to get a .25 Bobcat after Christmas. That will take care of my need for a more powerful rifle. Is there any wait time between shots for the reg to fill with the Huma?

I forgot to mention since I've been a good boy this year, my lovely wife has purchased a pellet sizer, a shooting rest, and new scope rings to replace my ghetto setup I have now. I have to stare at them until Christmas though. I can't wait to break out the pellet sizer. I'll have to do another video on sorted vs non sorted pellets for my rifle.
