I’m putting together a new gun hunter class for the event and really looking forward to going. I hear it will be poorly attended, so I have a better chance of doing well too!

LD, Looks like to me that as of my last National attendance printout the National has just over 60 planning attendance. I have counted at least 25 names of out of staters that are attending. With 5 Ft clubs in California it is sad that the attendance is what it seems to be. I was hoping for a lot more and I'm sure you, Wayne, and the two Scotts were too.
Glad to hear you will be there. The Hunter class and WFTF PCP seem to have comparable number shooters signed up and pleased to see WFTF on the rise on the west coast.

I was really just joking about any enhanced chances for myself… as unless there are only three in my class, I would struggle to place well. But I am looking forward to having a great time there anyhow!

Yea I feel EVERY FT club in the country has the same issue of having the majority of those who shoot with them doing so for FUN. With that many feel there not competitors worthy of a National Championship match and therefor don't sign up or even give it much thought. If said match was a short drive away perhaps, but for the SVFTC crew the drive to Morro Bay California is an @ 600 mile round trip, need to camp or pay for really costly motels being so close to San luis opispo, Pismo beach etc ... Cheap places to stay are limited.
2 years of FUBAR infrastructure chaos due the the pandemic has not helped either .... Would we have liked a 100+ person Nationals event .... ABSOLUTELY given able body helpers in pulling it off who are NOT shooters at said event ... The NEXT HUGE HURDLE clubs face ... HELP

I think there are only three active AAFTA clubs in California these days (Diablo, Sacramento, CASA). If we get 60 in attendance at the 2021 AAFTA Nationals, that's pretty good. I thought there might be fewer. Many people are just not as willing to travel these days (understandably). No Open FT from East of the Mississippi signed up yet. The game is going through some changes.
Bill, good shooting at the Burning river Match. You still got it. There should be some good competition in the Hunter PCP class at the Nationals. Though I am going to be shooting in Open PCP this time.
As Scott S stated, motels can be costly in this area but for this time of the year, not so bad. Motel 6 in the SLO/Morro Bay about $125/$155. We do allow free camping at the range. Someone could buy a small tent and sleeping bag after arrival, and expend low $ on accommodations.

FWIW, much as I'd like to contest Nats and some other out-of-state Grand Prix competitions, I now have a higher priority that precludes traveling for the foreseeable future.
Thankfully Maggyy enjoys monthly visits from her many adopted uncles during our monthly Ranchito Robinson EFT and Bench-Rest Silhouette matches, and the 2021 Republic of Texas FT Championships are only about an hour drive each direction.

But I actually DID build another Ft rifle (just in case). I’m bringing bringing twin USFT rifles and pistols And will likely lone the spares if the occasion arises. Going to be fun!
