Match this weekend in Boyd, Texas next weekend in Oklahoma City the following weekend and hopefully Arlington, Texas after that. So, a lot of preparation is involved.
Now that’s as much shooting as we’ve able to do all year!
Weather was surprisingly nice for the first of August at least here in NE Oklahoma
So we set up both paper and field targets for some practice.
After confirming zero and hold overs we took turns setting up the FT’s at distances unknown to the other shooter. Then the other shooter would practice his holdovers and rotate shooters. We have found this very useful as it helps practicing ranging. If you already know the distance and you have a reliable range card, you’re not really going to accomplish much. It’s the variable unknown that makes an average shooter better.
Even though it was in the mid 80’s a little shade is welcome.
some paper sight ins mixed with our FT’s
mark practicing with his TX200
Our 1/2” KZ target.
Our 1-1/2” KZ target. Not in the photos we have a 2” KZ as well.
We tried to make sure the targets were place with at least a Troyer 35.
I’ll be shooting my trusty BSA R10 Mk2.
This is a 1-1/2” target dot with 10 shots @ 55 yards from my BSA off of a shooting bag. It’s is surprisingly consistent considering it was a $400 clearance gun. Wish I had bought 2!
this is a 10 shot group off of sticks and a camping stool @ 55 yards. 9 out of 10 would be knock downs. There’s always that one who won’t come to the party.
We shall see if any or all this pays off on the FT Results page
