Getting the most for your money on the used market?

I took a different approach. There is a manufacturer out there (no I won't name them ;) ) that no one seems to complain about or really say much about, but when the newest models show up in the classifieds people don't buy. They are mid tier in price new ($2000). Yet, take the same manufacturer and have a discontinued 10 year old rifle hit the classified and it sells quick.

Trucker,
I might be missing something, but my air-tube equipped FX Wildcat MK3 .30 Sniper only has one regulator. Dual regs on the Wildcat MK3 came with the recent bottle version. WM
I've been pretty confused on the specs of the wc mk3, do the new tube versions have dual regs or is it just the bottle wc thats really a maverick in a different stock?

Plink,
I'm not sure but wouldn't expect dual regs coming on any Wildcat unless you order the bottle version of the Wildcat/Maverick platform. I've had my air-tube Wildcat MK3 for a year and the only change I've seen was access to the regulator on more recent models. I need to remove the stock to adjust regulator, newer models have regulator adjust access with stock installed. WM

Ok I didn’t realize the tube versions were only single regged. I don’t know if I totally buy into the dual reg hype. I have single regged guns that are super consistent. I guess maybe at super long range it probably is really helpful.
Wildcat MK3 Bottle and the Maverick are the same platform. WC MK3 Tube is the first gen and has a single reg, no additional plenum. All are wonderful FX platforms.
Having had all but the WC Bottle I would ask what platform and discipline you prefer? Just some tid-bit ideas for you...
  • Lite 75yd pester, woods walker, minimal tuning- MK3 tube (small plenum)- Average+ shot count
  • Lite 75yd pester, woods walker and like to tune and tweak- MK3 Bottle (same plenum as Maverick) VG shot count ( my guess compared to my Maverick)
  • 100+ yard bench, pest and tune/tweak- Maverick- VG shot count
  • 100/200yd+ bench, pest, tune, competition- Impact MKII/M3- VG/EX shot count

Never been concerened about Top Tier, Newer verse older, etc.
I see a Gun I like, I probably buy it if the price is what I think it's worth to me at the moment.
Sometimes I've lost money. Sometimes I've made money.
To me? Always making money on an Air Gun is a non matter. I make plenty of money when I want to.
The AG's are just a Hobby. Sometimes I win. Sometimes I loose on those.
Now you call me for my professional services? I don't walk out my door for anything less then $45 per hour.
