Crosman 2240 starter,what I need is to find some green anodized Bling...I got a thing about anodized parts,it turns me on.

I need all the help I can get in finding the right parts....I have googled for what I need,found some in England,butt I want to buy them here,USA.

Another question, can I build a PCP pistol from a 2240 frame?I s there any information "out there" That can help me.

Bottom line,I want to make a custom pistol that looks good and shots great....and can do most of the work myself=that is assembly the custom parts together,Not making the custom parts.Thank you for any of the help you can give me,Jesse

Have fun with your build, I could see myself having fun with one too.

Converting it to PCP, some things to consider:

First and foremost - safety. A 2240 is designed for only the valve to be pressurized, not the tube. The safest option is to plumb a line from an external tank to the valve. An example would be a 13ci Ninja tank. That's fine for a carbine but not what most folks will want for a pistol...it's just too big. 

To keep it looking like a pistol, you'll have to take the potentially more perilous responsbility to pressurize the tube. That would involve swapping the valve with a Discovery valve and anchor it with suitable fasteners (for example, 3x high strength #10-32 SHCS), and replace the tube with one that does not have the roll stamping. Many folks have done this sort of conversion but if something goes wrong, it can end very badly. And there won't be much volume so shot count will be anemic unless you tune it to a really low velocity.

For my own experience, the one 2240 I've converted to PCP is a bottled carbine, regulated at the standard Ninja setpoint of 850psi. With a long .177 barrel fitted, it gives about 200 shots at 14fpe. Very long but very lightweight and is just wicked with JSB/AA 8.4gr.

Thanks guys,that is a good start.I would never build a non safe gun,thanks for the thought....I remember seeing a stainless steel tube and top end for sale that did use some Crosman pistol parts to make custom pistols.I also think going with an already made PCP pistol would be better bet.....I have a 1701 PCP and a Crosman custom shop 2240.....I will just add some Bling to them plus the two stage trigger group.

I got the responses I needed for the green laminated target grips ...from two different grip makers or maybe they are grip dealers as both seem to have the same looking grips,they both took the time to get back to me so Thanks to them.. I also have their information which I can "pass on" to other looking for custom grips.

I going to make some lists of the custom parts makers and suppliers for future references...to help me and other.

Some of the custom makers have retired or are no longer with us,I can see where there is not a lot of business anymore for this sort of thing,never-the-less it is worthwhile to search them out...I do hope others will get involved with this post.Thank you,Jesse...ps.looks like a wrote some run on sentences,sorry, butt please bare with me.

I have a theme for my custom pistols.....what happened is I watch and read too much custom car magazine and TV ;that has transferred my desire for custom everything.....pride of ownership....and Fun....

I have been thinking about anodized parts and remembered there is a way to do it myself,not through That process,butt a much easier way,now I just have to see if they still sell that "kit"....if not I will just paint it Candy Apple...after all it is for me and being part Crow I love shiny things,LOL.

BTW,one of my best investments was to have a couple of custom fishing rods made for me,butt that is another story.

I have all but the 1702p trigger group, when I built my stainless wonder I got a Blue Fork grip frame because it was silver but what at the time came in it was a factory stock sear

it wasn't touched at all and that didn't make me happy at all but I needed the damn silver frame, so I took it apart and smoothed things up

The PowerMax Hipac gizmo is the easiest safe way to convert a 2240 to high-pressure air, but I believe you'd have to locate one in the used/collector market. The PowerMax HiPAC easily converts Crosman Co2 guns to high-pressure air by replacing the Co2 tube-cap, though hammer-spring replacements help fine tune performance with this device (as detailed below). This pistol averages .65 - .75” groups at 25 yards on Co2 or air.

.22 Crosman 2300 Co2 single-shot, 12” barrel

14.3gr JSB Express, 94F., 39 shot power-band= 465/494/29/6/485/7.5

With Boss valve, stronger hammer-spring and (home-made) power adjuster maxed out, it got:

14.3gr JSB Express, 100F., 20 shot power-band= 509/529/20/5/524

14.3gr JSB Express, 82F., 25 shot power-band= 524/546/22/6/538

As above, with PowerMax HiPAC HPA device installed and even heavier hammer-spring:

14.3gr JSB Express, 1500 PSI HiPac, 9 shot p-band 541 563 22 6 557/9.9

After resealing with assorted valve parts to correct a leak:

14.3gr JSB Express, 1600 PSI HiPac, 9 shot power-band= 572/594/22/5/581/10.7

14.3gr JSB Exp., 1600 PSI HiPac, 10 shot p-band= 570/601/31/7/587



Converting to a regulated-output HPA bottle is much more involved and makes a much larger 'pistol', but one capable of unimaginable performance (similar to this 1960s-vintage Crosman 187 pistol conversion that has captured many State and National Champion field-target titles)-

Thank you for the tips.I am having so much fun just learning and finding out all I can about customizing these neat Crosman pistols.

For now I will just add parts that make the pistols easier to shot accurately and add BLING!

Getting more people on the "band wagon" on this "pistol site"will help it grow; I know you and some others are quite experienced in pistol mods and taking the time to show and "teach"is appreciated by all.
