N/A Ghost or uragan 2 in .177

So I’ve got the itch for a new gun in .177 and I want the option to shoot slugs.
I‘m torn between the Uragan 2 with the 600 mm barrel, carbon stock or the standard barrel hp ghost.

Not a whole lot of info on either of these guns shooting slugs in .177

Anyone with experience with either in .177 and slugs?

Currently I have an original Uragan in .30 which loves slugs and pellets. I also have an impact m3 in .22 shooting 18 Grn pellets. Also a Hm1000x in .22.

Which gun out of the uragan and ghost would be the better .177 shooter?
Mostly used for pesting with some paper, steel punching as well.
Probably order from Krale.

Look up SorenDrost in the search function. He has been shooting slugs in a ghost 177 for awhile now.....He is also testing ouut a new slug barrel, but before that it was the "standard" barrel.

Have no experience with the uragan but the ghost with 28” barrel shoots 13 gr great!

While I don't shoot slugs out of air powered guns...
The two that you are looking at are VERY different guns, in case you didn't realize that.

Most obvious differences - One light weight, more suitable to offhand, walk-around shooting, one much heavier, more suitable to bench shooting.

Mike
So looking up the specs the Uragan in carbon is 7.75 pounds and the Ghost is 7.5 pounds. 1/4 pound difference, according to specs.

So, in your mind, which one is the walk around gun and which is the bench gun?

That twenty eight inch barrel is also going to add some weight to it. Why are you trying to decide between those two guns?

There are not a lot of folks shooting slugs in .177s, but it's getting more interest lately. I had a RAW HM1000x custom built by Martin Rutterford that squirts out 13.4 gr Zan slugs at 1010 fps and is very accuracte. That gun has a 600 mm barrel. The Ghost seems to be getting popular in the FT area, but pellets are being used there. I would chose a rifle that is easy to tune to higher powers if you plan on using slugs because most rifles are tuned at the factory for pellets around 20 fpe. Good luck.

Uragan for slug shooting. The U2 - 600 would be great. They have addressed the valve and it function fine. It's a balanced-valve and if you operated as a balanced-valve should, it's great!

I was pretty set on grabbing an Uragan 2 in .177. Not much negative is said about it in .177 and I do like my .30 Uragan. Price isn’t insane so figured I roll the dice.

Then I started reading a lot about the ghost. Seems guys like it in .177 too. A lot more adjustability with the ghost although it’s way uglier to me. Price through Krale is close to the Uragan carbon.

I’m happy with my impact m3 in .22. No regulator, 1st shot issues for me. Read way too much about the crap shoot that is Fx and .177 liners. Trying to stay away from that.

I’m wanting something in .177. I’ve been a .22 airgun shooter for 30 years. Have a target rich environment where the 177 maybe a better fit. Mice, chipmunks.

The option to shoot slugs interest me. In .22 slugs are expensive, .177 not so much.
I do understand it’s just another rabbit hole to go down...

So what are you trying to achieve with a 177? Are you trying to have your slugs high power? Like 16gr and up? Or something along tge lines of 13-15gr?

The FX liners in 177 work phenomenally. As long as you don't have your expectations set too high.

I've taken iguanas as far as 144yds with the .177 500mm barrel liner. As long as you get the 1:18 liner which everyone who has them sells them you will be able to shoot 14gr skugs and under phenominally. 15gr and higher you will need to set up a hot rod tune, because for some reason you need an inefficient tune for then to group.

I've consistently hit golf balls with the 13.43gr JSB KO at 120 and 130yd. A local buddy of mine has the rifle, but @Scotay42 has the barrel, not sure if he's used it yet but with the 2 .177 barrels I have had 500mm and 600mm you can shoot slugs just fine. Now if you want to shoot 16gr slugs and higher you'll need the 1:16 twist heavy barrel for the impact.

I've spoken with @mercado and he's had the U1 .177 for years and he sling 16gr slugs at 970fps accurately and without hiccups.

I’ve never really shot slugs before, but I‘m thinking the lighter end of slugs in .177 but I really don’t know.

Did I say rabbit hole…

Certainly not looking for a high power monster. Shot count, noise, and shot cycle are way more important. Got a 30 for slinging heavy lead, and plenty of powder burners.

Out of my m3 500mm .177 shooting 10gr JSB KO slugs at 1000fps I would get 4-5 mags depending on how high I filled it.

I'm shooting the 10.03gr .177 jbs mk3s KOs at 880 fps with a 14" barrel . They expand plenty on a mouse . Where the pellet would pass through with small holes the slugs almost tear them in half on the exit side . Super quiet and doesn't use a bunch of air . I no longer believe you need 1000 fps for a slug to be accurate and have devastating effects.
