Gifted an 850M2 for Iguanas

SirJack,
Head to Amazon. Open sights look fairly decent on the Umarex 850M2, might just try out before scope purchase. Takes 11mm dovetail scope mounting, Bushnell, CenterPoint or WestHunter scopes are worth considering. Ajoite UUQ bipod is impressive @ $70 just verify Umarex has a front picatinny rail on stock bottom to mount. Amazon doesn't pack well enough to protect pellets, you can take a chance or head to Walmart for some Crosman brand. C02 cartridges @ Amazon or Walmart. WM

Username, 2 posts, either way, this is a forum with a search feature and all your questions could be answered via that.
The user name that you chose as well seems a bit suspicious as well.

There are plenty of options out there, just use that little white bar in the top right corner and use that for the search function.

it is not the post that is peculiar, it is the user name you chose to shove in our faces
I would recommend a less perverted prophile name, if you really want help from normal folks
but Amazon has everything you want o_O
but lets play innocent, shall we
Why would it be? This is a forum and I have a question about where you purchase and what you use... I don't see anything peculiar about that.

The 177 850M2 claims 650 FPS with 7gr pellets, that's 6.57 FPE. the 22 gets 8-9ish FPE, still low for a decent size godzilla. Personally I wouldn't use it, especially if they are grown iguanas. If you have 30-50 feet, I'm assuming not much space. That means without a quick dispatch, its going to run off and die somewhere else. can it be done, yes. Should it be done, that's a personal decision. Personally I have set rules i follow to gain the best success of the quary staying on my property. There are the rare occasions of them getting away sure, but i'm in high 90's percent of stuff dropping on my property.
I use CO2, but only for rats, mice, and agamas.

I have seen big iguanas run off after getting hit with a 30 cal impact. To be fair I have also seen them fall off a branch stone dead with a .177 as well. It is all about shot placement and to have the power to penetrate their hide.
You reminded me of what I forgot in the previous post.
As a residential pester I also have a personal rule that the rifle needs to shoot a dime or better at the intended distance i plan to use it.
i try to always speak in FPE and accuracy, both are equally important and must both be met. Caliber is not so important.
I would have no problem taking an iguana in my yard with my 177 putting out 18-20 FPE and hitting a dime at 25 yards.
Where I am the iguana are not as large as a few counties south.

With residential pesting ALWAYS have a solid backstop. My squirrel, rat, and mouse location has an inch of pressure treated wood, and an oak tree behind that. Lizards, I use my shed that has a thick metal base.

Thanks Worried Man. It does have a picatinny rail. My eyesight is not what is anymore so, I know I need some type of scope. I will check out your recommendations.

Yes, Florida_Man, We have agamas too but they are not the ones digging. I see your point, what do you consider a good FPE for them? Thank you for your response.

This is a really good thread for some info. I'd feel comfortable with 20 FPE with good shot location.

Like in the thread I suggest watching some of Orion's videos to see the kill zones on them. You don't need the kitted out stuff he has, but its a good education on the animal.

I suggested 30 fpe, but if they're only 20-50 foot shots, you can get away with a nice laser beam 20 fpe. Some of those herps get pretty big, and that skull is tough plus they basically wear a suit of leather armor.

Personally, I would get a stormrider and a hand pump, probably 177 for the added penetration, and be adequately equipped for under 300 bucks.

I would think a .177 with some slugs would actually do real nice on these.
