Huben GK1: What Silencer for Backyard Quiet? (or almost)

GK1: What Silencer for Backyard Quiet?

Based on your personal experience:
What silencer would I need to get the GK1 down to "backyard quiet" or almost so?

Specs:
.22cal
15FPE (650fps with a 16gr)

I understand that bigger and longer gets the gun quieter, but I'd like to stick with the minium length necessary....

Thanks for your input. 😊

I use a 3D printed one on my .25 GK1, it does a really good job making it backyard friendly and is only 3" long. The diameter is 25mm, so the iron sights can be used.

I am using the 2.75" most of the time; the same design is available in 4.5" and 6.5" You can PM IMADMAN on the forum here and he can make them for you; these are designed by the skilled Subscriber whom is a specialist in LCD's designing them for air pistols, etc. I find the 2.75" works so well I rarely would use the longer ones as it is quiet enough for my backyard. If I lived in an apartment complex maybe I would use either the 4.5 or the 6.5" oval version to be extra stealthy? For the quality, appearance, and price you can all 3 for less than buying a manufactured brand option so I highly recommend them!

These look like they were designed for the GK1 and work great! I am using them on my GK1 .25 tuned to 810 FPS.

Here are some more pictures: the photo's are of the 2.75", the 4.5" and the 6.5" oval versions.

I don’t make those. Subscriber designed them and Torquemaster printed them. Still extremely happy with them. I lost count on how many rounds went through them. Never had any failures or blow ups. I asked that they be able to withstand 80fpe.

The action is basically silent without the traditional hammer with hammer spring..
The most pronounced sound from the action is, surprisingly, the magazine cycling. The volume seems to correlate with the power level.

The key to keep the gun quiet is energy level and a good LDC. I have tested the skinny (30mm) Huma, an oversized Clague, and even home-made 3D printed ones, all worked well when the gun itself is well tuned, even when shooting JTS 22gr at 870 FPS. The sound of impact is likely to be louder unless one is shooting into electrician putty or a box of old clothing.

thanks for the correction, sorry IMADMAN :) Yes folks please contact Torquemaster whom can print them for you!

Matthias,

If I recall correctly you will be detuning for backyard performance. While I have not tried the supplied moderator I gather from a conversation with Kelly at Kraz Cool the Huben part should meet your needs without changing the POI.
The Huben moderator is not supplied with all GK1’s. It is an add on.

Saludos.

Matthias,

I finally tried out the Huben moderator this afternoon. My 0.22 is tuned for 20 foot pounds with 15.89 Hades. It's plenty quite for backyard use. Kelly is correct, unlike any other supplemental moderator I have used there is no charge in point of impact.

@scopecreep... Is the Huben moderator 3D printed plastic or is it aluminum?
