Huben GK1: What Silencer for Backyard Quiet? (or almost)

Mike,

That rapid disassembly is not surprising. In fact, the original write up in which this LDC was developed stated that your warrantee expires, if your GK1 dumps the air tank.

It is like a 5 MPH rated bumper taking the vehicle structure with it, should you crash at 50 MPH.

I trust that the event was interesting, but not harmful. That the plastic bits flew forwards and outwards.

Your picture suggest very good layer to layer adhesion, as the fractures are through the material, not at the layer boundaries.
It was an eye wakening event for sure! Yep the printer was working perfect 100% infill lol.

Using a 3d printed moderator. I used Bambu PA-CF filament for the first time and I am super pleased with the results. Perfect thread profile, no stringing, good surface finish, 10g lighter than print in PETG with same settings. Since the moderator I'm using is not cylindrical it needs to be "clocked" using some sort of spacer in order to line up with the gun when tightened up. I bought some 1/2" barrel shims for $10 delivered. Very handy, easy to justify buying... I have enough shims to do multiple guns.

I got a LED like the one you have pictured, I also tuned my GKI 25 down to 600FPS, Its much less than mouse fart, Its more like fly fart, I thought I broke my gun so quite,,Wish I could remember who made them.

Download = Valve Dump?

In case someone wonders why mods are not made strong enough to resist a valve dump, mods are designed to handle muzzle pressure (with margin), not breech pressure (airtank at 4500 PSI in the case of a GK1) . To do the latter would require a very heavy wall; and that would make the mod heavy compared to the airgun.

Pretty sure it's a Version 2 or a variation of the Subscriber/Torquemaster mod.

In a few weeks I will have 2 new models to test, that will hopefully replace the current Sumo .177/.22 with something both shorter and lighter -- and molded after the GK1 profile....
@subscriber is my go-to guy when I need customized silence. Teamed up with GTA's TorqueMaster they are a very capable and pleasant task force to work with! 😊

Matthias

@miksatx printed the above mentioned mods for his own use, and sent me the pic below:
Matthias requested a design exactly 4" long, for his .22 GK1, to be mouse fart quiet at 12 FPE.
I can't help if the mice identify as nutria :)

These mods do not have a flat top "sighting rib" for open sight use, but such a version could be made.

I'll like the pattern! I got mine from torquemaster a few days ago. It works well, not as quiet as the Huma mod 30 kevlar, but it work really well for what I need and the overall look and balance is spot on.

Glad you like it, although yours is a different design to the pic above on this page. I think the version you have is better for higher power. The two in the pic above are intended for lower power. What is the real difference in performance at low, medium and high power? Perhaps someone will let us know :)

I know the member.I got this from makes 3 different sizes this one being the intermediate one. It does exceptionally well at low power. For the amount of noise reduction I am looking for I'd probably cap it at 30fpe with an 18gr and 25fpe with a 15gr pellet. Anything higher and I'd switch to the mod 30
